I was surprised to see that Ed Begley was in the original Battlestar Galactica.

It even appears that Richard Hatch is a much better actor on this version than he was back in the day.

Just finished re-watching the mini series and season one. Holy cow, this show was so freaking good.
Not a terrible take early on. Katee Sackhoff became one of the best things about BSG.NoACDamnit said:
Last night's kinda sucked. The actress playing Starbuck simply isn't good enough to carry that sort of script.

And the baby will be named Boxey and he will have a robot dog that moves sorta like a chimpanzee.

If you want a lesson in bad acting, watch the original 1978 series. Any comparisons on acting ability between the current Starbuck and the old are laughable. Acting-wise, the current Starbuck is Katharine Hepburn in comparison to Dirk Benedict. A valid point can be made on that character being a woman, but fans of the old show who make acting complaints are smoking crack.

I got my wife watching it while she was pregnant with our oldest. She went into labor halfway through season 4. Still one of my favorite shows of all time.
Great list - I'd also add BSG:RazorG Martin 87 said:
Found the "essential episodes" list I put together last year. Hope this helps anyone wanting a streamlined rewatch.
Did you know the original viper design was ended up being the good guy ship in Buck Rogers?Gilligan said:Philip J Fry said:

What a thread bump!
Interesting read. Cable TV, TIVO, DVR…
Like a blast from the past.
The Katie Sackhoff as Starbuck discussions. It's interesting that she's now typecast in her tough sci-fi role. Battlestar Galactica, Riddick, the Mandalorian, to name a few.
The launch sequence of the Vipers was always cool. As a kid I got really good at drawing the Viper. Weird memory.
Good bump…
This. I greatly prefer this format, which leads to a much better show and better planned stories.Prime0882 said:
If this show could have been cut down to 13 episode seasons to keep the main arc always at the forefront it would have been an all-timer.

I still can't see how people like this show especially after a re-watch. Every season was a different show. You could easily tell no one on the writing staff or the show runners had any plan past each season or hell even a multi episode story arc past the first season.
It was a hot mess.

How did you get your wife to watch this show? Asking for a friend.
She roles her eyes at me when this, Star Wars, and Dune are on TV.
