Hey, he's an engineer; they have to spend a lot more time hitting the books in school and getting things right afterwards; otherwise, everything falls down or blows up. So show a little respect.
A suggestion: go to AFI site and look at their list of the 100 greatest American films and rent a dozen on DVD.
Gladiator is a very well made film but there are a lot more that are much better.
If you liked Gladiator, you should see Lawrence of Arabia and Bridge on The River Kwai.

I have seen all the movies referenced above and feel Gladiator is better than all of them.

Give me a break. Different strokes for different folks. Tommy Boy, Old School, Dumb and Dumber, etc. aren't exactly cinematic masterpieces but I would watch one of those before I tried to sit through Gone With the Wind or Citizen Kane again.

i probably watch this movie five times a year. it is an excellent film. but i too can't say that i have a favorite movie.

i'm a fan of sushi, but i can also eat the hell out of slice of pepperoni pizza. i wouldn't want to eat either one every night.
and as far as pepperoni pizza goes, i'd put Gladiator pretty damn close to the top of the list.

Good movie, good imagery. A few too many subplots that kinda went nowhere, but I wasn't aware of any swiss cheese holes in the plot.

Braveheart is a better all around movie, but Gladiator has some classic scenes.
