I would think that most vfds would have a level one instructor on the roster. It was not too hard to get when I got mine.

Sorry if my comment offended you... your most recent comments make you sound as though you are in an inner loop, although others clearly lean to NON leadership. It is important to realize that yes the workers that did the most will be there ( they are students and very close) others, former students and such, that have come and worked but are not able to attend as often as they wish, families, work, distance have to make tough decisions and are no less the ones that "deserve" to watch it burn. And have you even talked to leadership about recruiting a VFD?

The headline "Dry Conditions Threaten Bonfire" is misleading. It is absolutely embarrassing that the local politicos cannot make an exception for Bonfire. This isn't an ordinary "Joe" burning trash in his backyard. This event is intensely supervised by many, many individuals.

The proper codes need to be put in place to make an official and consistent exception. Disgusting.

Word is that it there may be a new verdict on the burn ban this afternoon, so *possible* burn tonight. Bigass storm coming (apparently) on thursday, so possibly burn friday. Maybe next week, we'll see.

I do want to give props to leadership for doing the hard thing but the right thing for the longevity of SB.

I just wanted to point out, while the physical absence of spectators if they have to burn it on Thursday seems bad, the timing would present some unique potential.
