'89 & '90 w/Aston. Roomate in '90 was a crew chief; suite mate was the yellow pot. Good times!

What's your name? Mike Flanagan here I was a freshman in Aston in 89, lived there a few more years, knew all the pots etc.

A O Aston. C1NRB. Everybody else, Eff Off!

89-93, just a red-ass.

There is nothing better than standing on top of 4th stack, hanging swings in the afternoon sun on Duncan Field.

I will vouch for Flannigan, I walked the woods with him on many occasions.

I built 1998 and 1999. I helped build the outhouse for the '99 bonfire. We had id just about done when it fell. I was a streetfighter in the best outfit in the corps... B-Co! I loved going to cut. I actually got a chance to take my dad (Syracuse grad) to cut. It was so freakin awesome.

'70 BQ fish - crew in Stack, moving logs from the trucks to the inner circle
'71 BQ p_sshead - chain saw crew, butting logs, also helped build the t.u. "frat house" for the top of the centerpole
'72 BQ Butt - ran crew in Stack, moving logs from the trucks to the inner circle
'73 BQ Zip - watched it

In that era BQ Zips did not work Bonfire so it was the routine. Hard work over that weekend. 6 hours on, 6 hours off starting Friday night until Monday morning. Glad to see it burn, though. The '71 Bonfire centerpole stayed up past midnight but the sips beat us anyway the next day.

Those days are long gone, the way Bonfire got built. It got out of hand and dangerous and turned into a semester event with little institutional memory. Only in our memories. Sad.

That's freaking right. There was a Puker Jr. I had forgotten all about that. I'm getting senile.

Yes, Turkey 101 is correct. First night at A&M as a student at "the Country Club" for those of you that remember that. A now very well respected Austin attorney and special interest lobbyist, but a then very drunken ******* gave me that nick name. Good times.

Does anyone know if the "Country Club" house still exists out in Bryan?
chunks
How long do you want to ignore this user?
No the Club got sold to somebody out of Crocker in 03. I went to a few parties out there before it died. Mine was on the first night of A&M as well. A guess there is kinda a trend there huh?

They sold the country club house? So sad.

I'd be curious to know the sale price on that gem of a property. 500 bucks and a case of beer?

It's sad to say that I think I've forgotten more than I remember. Memories that stand out are:

Grode stories at lunch
Mortal Kombat at Unload
The week between perimeter pole arriving at the Polo Fields and it finally going up
First Butt
Sending fish to ask reds and browns for sky hooks, tree fall indicators, left handed stump screws, tree de-barkers, and powdered water
Having enough guys at cut so as to NOT have to load all day!

Hey "Bonfire 1996"...is that you, Junior?

did you need standard or metric tree fall indicators?

Man I remember this time Egon and I actually started pulling out math on how to size the proper tree fall indicator. That fish was deer in the headlights to be certain

All of our equipment was standard, so that was what we asked for. I need to come out and see if the new digital tree fall indicators are any good. The old analogs we used couldn't do conversions, which would have made cut a little easier for our foreign students.

Yellow Pot Walton Warriors. We did not load back then. 1984, stood till 12:42 am or there abouts. Was allowed to work on stack during the day when they were topping it off. Stack looks very wicked from on top of it.

DG which was the equivalant to animal house, the did all the loading. University got so mad at them they made it a girls dorm in 86 or 87.

'85 FIRE: B-1 Fish Centerpole outfit.
'86 FIRE: B-1 Pisshead BTHOB
'87 FIRE JRP
'88 FIRE HMFIC

Being intimately familiar with all aspects, I must say... Cut sucked. Load, DG made it a blast.... But I was all about stack. Best memory, standing on top of the cap with one of my JRP buddies, looking East and watching the sunrise over the trees.
