Hopefully NASA shows the capsule being lifted out of the water.

can you imagine traveling 700k mi through space and getting seasick from the capsule bobbing around in the ocean?

Something seems strange with the capsule, why is it taking so long for them to get out

Fifty years ago, they weren't worried about Navy frogman breathing in dangerous gases being vented from the spaceship.

This isnt Hollywood, where Tom Hanks gets out in 20 seconds. It takes time to set everything up and do a proper shutdown of the capsule.

"Navy Divers", my ass…….they're "frogmen" - a term I always thought hilarious growing up.

Frogmen were AAF back in the day. Navy has always called them Navy Divers. Similar to how they have Naval Aviators rather than pilots.

They're all frogmen!

This rubber boat porch thingy seems ridiculously complicated, lol. And what's the point of stabilizing the capsule two hours after splashdown?

This appears to be an overly complicated CF. Overthinking this? I defer to those that know but watching the first deployment, it was obvious they didn't anticipate wind and current effects on the vehicle compared to the drag of the device. All to lessen travel through the boat to the medical facility?

I think the recovery crew in the boats could use some more training.

At this point, the recovery ship is a mile away or so. A boat ride would seem much simpler.

Dumb question: The Murtha has a floodable well deck so why wouldnt they just pull up and suck that capsule into the well deck and do all of this within the confines of the Murtha?

Seems to be what they ultimately do, but they probably have reasons for getting the crew out first.

To be fair... The Navy isn't exactly keen on Starlink dishes on board.

When was it they found some dumb dumb that stashed one on the side of his ship?

I'm sure they closed up the zero-g toilet several hours before re-entry. And now they're just sitting on the deck.

Im still amazed they landed within pissing distance (relatively speaking) of the rescue ship.

I was listening to former astronaut interviews on Fox earlier. I learned that the capsule actually has some steering capabilities. Not much, but a little. This guy said they can influence the landing spot by about 50 miles. All this time I thought it was almost all powerless free fall.

Today, unfortunately, many Americans have good reason to fear that they will be victimized if they are unable to protect themselves. And today, no less than in 1791, the Second Amendment guarantees their right to do so. - Justice Samuel Alito 2022

Apollo, Gemini, and I'm pretty sure even Mercury all has launch abort towers.

SpaceX has it's abort system built into the capsule with the Super Draco thrusters.

Gemini had ejection seats. Mercury and Apollo had abort towers though.

On a somewhat related note, I hope I'm not the only one who saw Mike Fossum being interviewed on Special Report tonight with an A&M flag, tie, and lapel pin. He's such a great ambassador for our school. I hope it's seriously being considered to call him up to the big leagues and make him the university president.
