IIRC the language of the law says that you can fire upon someone "in the act of or fleeing from committing a crime", something along those lines.

I don't know what the law was 20 to 25 years ago, but my brother shot a guy in the back who was running away from my brother's store after robbing it (or attempted to rob, don't recall if he got any money or not). The bad guy had held a cashier at knife point and my brother saw him doing so on security camera. It went before the grand jury, but he was not indicted.

He pled guilty to second degree assault (he was originally charged with first degree assault and armed criminal action) and is facing up to seven years when he's sentenced on March 7th (other articles say the prosecution will be asking for a five year sentence)

Dude got what he deserved for being stupid. He's damn lucky he didn't kill that kid.

Article said he shot the kid in the head and then went outside and shot him a second time. If true then isn't it attempted murder?
