JD Vance is a complicated figure. He's young. He was promoted and funded by Thiel. He has reinvented himself numerous times. And he has shown he can pivot on a dime, change his positions and views as it suits him and his pursuit for fame and power. Even his original claim to fame, of being a poor kid, is maybe not all it claims to be, as Rolling Stone reports.
After reading that, I'm pretty convinced that I grew up much more "poor" than JD.
I personally think having him as the figurehead of the GOP is a huge mistake. And will contribute to the further crumbling and failure of the GOP. He intends to be the heir of the MAGA crown. Isolationist, populist, divisive, cultural warrior, election denier.

JD is a good old-school politician in that he reinvents himself as needed while still staying true to the big things.
If Trump loses (relax, it's still tied), JD is in a good position to take up the mantle in the next election, but DeSantis will be in a better position for the top of the ticket mostly because Trump losing means voters are rebuking Trump's maga ways, and JD will be tied to that. But, like a good politician, I can see him backing away from maga and moving slightly to the left, where DeSantis lives, and giving the right the two best, most conservative choices they've had since Reagan and Poppy.
Just my two cents.
There are in fact two things, science and opinion; the former begets knowledge, the later ignorance. Hippocrates
