So it's okay to make fun of women? Who else gets this treatment?

I don't think it is making fun of women but over the top celebration of them.

Lots of things aren't my cup of tea but that doesn't mean it should be banned.
It's not a celebration of women. It's all sexual. It was obvious the regents directive was going to lose in the courts, but with the trans issue, women do lose. They lose championships, scholarships, privacy, get punish for reusing to change in front of a biological male (most are intact), etc. This drag issue is just the opposite side of the trans coin.

So when's the first topless show with stripper poles etc? Can't wait. Keep me posted

Just so I'm clear: it's believed on this board that women are objectified and demeaned at drag shows, and so the only way to combat that is to further objectify and demean women with a topless show.

Well played

I think this is fine. I'm not a fan of drag myself, but they're keeping it 18+. That's what we all wanted for this stuff.

Speak for yourself. I don't want them on the A&M Campus-period, kids or no kids.. Texas A&M is an educational institution and drag shows are not part of that.

I say if they want to have a drag show, then go have one. Just do it at a private venue. This has no place on the A&M campus. I hope the administration fights this tooth and nail.

Did you feel the same way about concerts on campus?
Stand up comedians?

False analogy. This is not a concert and not a stand up comedian

What educational aspect does Larry the Cable Guy provide for appearing on campus?

You specified education when mentioning why drag shows shouldn't be on campus

Just so you're clear: You missed the sarcasm.

Really? Because the idea of a retaliatory burlesque show has been mentioned here more than once
Yes, really. And your reply just proves that you missed his sarcasm.

how did the call go?

He gave them a piece of his mind, that's how it went

And probably a stern talkin' to the student answered the phone and full Karen mode on their manager.

When is this retaliatory show? The dirty sock closed, so that's really something the town has been missing for a while.

Could A&M ask for an appeal and push this whole thing past the 27th?

They could try, but extremely unlikely they'd be successful. Putting aside that the merits weigh against A&M, A&M also has to show that it would be irreparably harmed if a stay of the injunction order is not granted. I don't see how they show that.

Some on F16 may not want to hear this, but that was a well reasoned decision from the court.

Drag shows are repulsive, but offensive speech is protected.

I'll take age-restricted drag shows over "Drag Queen Story Hour with Children" any day of the week!!!

While both are protected by the 1st Amendment, the former is 'adult entertainment' while the latter IMHO is pure 'political agitation' that's meant to sow disharmony because it's an afront to those who have expressed passionately their concerns about the Community's alleged "grooming." The Community says it's neither, & although I fully support their exercise of Free Speech, I believe their story time with children is indeed politically motivated. Accordingly, since it's protected Speech, why be disingenuous about its purpose, especially since there isn't Drag Queen story time at libraries to combat adult illiteracy &/or at retirement homes/ assisted living facilities??? In fact, I bet if kids aren't involved &/or targeted, then very few folks would give a crap about drag shows such as Draggieland.

Lastly, I thought a biological woman showing her titties, naked butt, & other 'component parts' voluntarily & in particular for cash tips was "Female Empowerment"? When did such return to being demeaning &/or objectifying? According to TikTok videos I've seen, women making millions on OnlyFans don't see themselves as victims or believe they should be ashamed of their actions; therefore, please help me out, as I'm trying to keep up but the messaging keeps changing!
