In my experience, the real Silicon Valley is has swung a little bit back to the right.

• A lot of the silent for so long types are now finding a voice - usually after they don't need VC money any longer.
• Also, a lot of the leaders now are immigrants from more conservative cultures - especially India.

The time frame from about 2012-2024 was over the top with corporate virtue signalling. It actually started to slow down a little bit last year. This year's Black History Month "celebrations" pale in comparison to say 2021 or 2022.

One of the contributing factors to me getting laid off at the beginning of 2018 was a late 2017 conversation with the manager two levels up from me who was a White guy solidly on the virtue signalling bandwagon.

It was so ridiculous, we would have women's events where 80% of the attendees would be men who wanted to show up and make sure they were on record as supporting women. Seriously. 4 real women doing the work (sales/sales management), 4 admin women (party planners/event organizers) and about 40 dudes.

Where I got in trouble was the manager guy who talked about how great it was that our employer supported the rainbow causes. I asked him if he'd ever heard the CEO say that because as a devout religious person, he certainly does not support it. He realized I was right and that was pretty much the last time I ever talked to him before I got laid off a month later. That wasn't the only reason but, it certainly didn't help my case.
