I don't know any fellow attorneys that are members. Why would I pay dues to a leftist advocacy organization? I send mine to the Federalist Society.

I was only a member for a couple years after school before recognizing how worthless it was.

I was a member for about a year...right after law school when I was still stupid. Even way back then, as an organization, was far more political than they had any reason to be. But I never knew they received USAID money. Explains a lot of why they were so political.

Interesting. Always thought of it as a sort of trade group or guild organization but it may be something like the AARP, where membership was general and relatively non partisan from a party standpoint long ago, and was focused is issues broadly concerning all members, but gradually co-opted by the more activist left as a useful resource to commandeer for political activism as needed. I imagine there was the same pattern in many now left dominated institutions: it didn't start that way.

They always presented themselves as a professional group and that their advocacy was limited to matters that impacted the profession, such as formulating Model Codes in specific areas that states could then adopt to unify and streamline procedures and principles instead of an unwieldy voluminous case law.

But then during the 60s and 70s the ABA started to weigh in on particular sides of policy decisions and became more involved in lawsuits, such as here. There is no reason nor benefit to the profession here. It is only about their own pocketbooks, this USAID funding.

They can eat **** and DIAF. Don't care.

I don't give a ish what they say about "ignoring constitutionality", after they were completely silent about Obamacare, forced COVID vaccines, cancelling student loan debt, restricting second amendment, etc. What else did I miss?
