The govt has been lying about inflation for years and slow rolling it with interest rate increases. They still have pain to absorb plus their dishonesty accumulated reporting backlog.

The only way (R)s could stop this "continued inflation" (which is really just the trickling recognition of previous malfeasance) is to extract a huge amount of $ from the money supply. And that'd take curtailing fractional reserve banking and/or significantly reducing Fed lending. Neither of which are small / simple actions.
