Pretty sure that's one of the 757s. They have been used for presidential transport, but not in this case

https://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Bush-Foundation-wants-Air-Force-One-displayed-in-13745806.php

Quote:

The George and Barbara Bush Foundation has asked that the late president's library and museum at Texas A&M University become the permanent home of the Air Force One plane that once transported Bush around the world.

The College Station-based foundation wants to display one of two Boeing VC-25A planes, to be retired in 2025, on the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum's 90-acre grounds, president and CEO David Jones said. The foundation's leaders hope the storied aircraft will attract more visitors and increase public knowledge of the Bushes' life and legacy.

That will be AFTER the current planes are removed from service. Regan planned for their purchase but they entered service during Bush's presidency. The Bush library wants one when the new ones arrive in a year or so.

Yeah you're right. Far to chunky to be a 57.

If there's any lashings left over following the rest of the fake news on this thread I'll take one.

C-40B is based on the 737-700 Business Jet.

The USAF 757-200 is the C-32A (has the "AF1" paint scheme) and the C-32B Gatekeeper, which is painted all white and conducts mostly classified missions.

Not this plane, but the Boeing 700,800 and 900 series is what gives me nightmares.

What's wrong with the 737NG series (600-900)?

SeaTac, crab season and a long ass cargo haul under the plane. Never got more sick of loading and unloading crab boxes than my 6 months in Seattle working for Alaska Airways.

I think he needs to troll and take his Trump Jet for a spin just so media is forced to designate it AF1

You mean the guy responsible for managing military crisis in real time, to include nuclear war, shouldn't have an aircraft equipped to carry staff and equipment to manage said crisis? I'm all for govt efficiency but this seems to be a weird hill to die on.
A 737 is overkill beyond imagination for the CJCS. I get the president, VP, and even SecDef, but at some point you've got to start scaling appropriately. I'm not suggesting he fly a Cessna. There are very nice jets available that are much smaller than a 737 but still adequate for his role and supporting staff. He doesn't need to travel with 150 people in tow. The key things he needs are comms, and those can be available on a much smaller and efficient platform. Old school thinking -- just like the mine in WV that limits federal retirees to 10k per month -- is what is bloating federal expenditures that we can no longer afford. We can still run the government very well on a much smaller spend profile.

They have some Gulfstream III, IV (C-20) and G-5s (C-37A). That's about the smallest of the VIP aircraft.

It wouldn't be AF1. POTUS on a civil aircraft would be "Executive One." I don't think the SS would ever allow that, though.
