Ironic that Glenn Beck was talking about this very thing on the radio this morning.

His point that Europe is debating on a spectrum of Fascism vs. Communism, while the US operates on a debate between infinite power to government (which would result in Fascism or Communism - ie. authoritarianism) and no government at all (anarchy).

It is the Constitution and its commitment to free speech that is the difference in the US vs. Europe.
