I do know that this effort to defend Ukraine has helped to launder "aid" money into people's pockets that had zero to do with providing aid…

If he truly wants the Ukrainian government to be involved in negotiations, have an open election that's monitored and whoever wins can represent Ukraine.
This clown is mad his free ride is over with president dementia.
This kind of specious logic, and corrupt politicians sending money to a corrupt Ukraine regime is exactly why Trump was elected.
We send billons to Ukraine, but $700 dollars to Americans whose houses were burnt down.
Insanity.
We literally agreed to defend Ukraine if they de-nuclearized. That was the deal we made to them and we should uphold that deal because a) we said we would, b) it screws Russia while costing us little, and c) it's in the best interest of our own western alliances to keep as much space between Russia and the rest of NATO.deddog said:Wanting to not fund Ukraine's war, doesn't mean you cheer for Russia.Hullabaloonatic said:I don't understand why you're celebrating the downfall of an ally. Get rid of Martial Law. Next.
They can do that as soon as the foreign invader isn't on their soil…
I seem to remember someone telling me once that Putin was free to leave anytime he wanted.
Well Zelensly can have an election anytime he wants.
Let's hold everyone to the same standard.
If the Ukrainian people want to continue the conflict and think he is doing a good job then they will reelect him.
But why not let the Ukrainian people decide what they want?

One can easily be against funding this war by while also understanding why someone may not want to surrender their nation.

Man, the brain rot is just as bad for the right as it ever was for the left. The Ukes themselves have polled strongly against holding elections right now. It is purely a talking point for those who would capitalize on it currently. An open and fair election would be impossible with nearly a million members under arms and fighting an existential war and many other citizens in occupied territory or abroad. Not to mention polling stations would absolutely draw Russian strikes. It's literally their way of war, proven countless times over three years in this war alone.45-70Ag said:🚨BREAKING: Zelenskyy just said "He no longer feels supported by the US."

Biden and his admin ran that aid to Ukraine in the dumbest and most inefficient way possible and I am positive it was done that way on purpose. For both as a political weapon and to draw out the conflict for monetary and power gain among the players. Both right and left. Zelensky got screwed over just as much by Biden as anyone else. And if Zelensky was as corrupt as everyone alludes to, Putin would have just bought him off day one and been done with it.
Zelensky is pissed because the US just decided to unilaterally hold talks with Russia with zero invites to either Ukraine or Europe. I don't care how much of a Trump idol you are, that is f'ing stupid. Not to mention while literally giving up all the leverage we could have had in any sort of deal against Russia before the talks even began. So the US and Russia are dealing right now as we speak with the fate of Ukraine and Zelensky is purposely sidelined from the talks and he is supposed to be happy? I swear if any of yall cannot understand that basic ass concept of human interaction and dealings, I am ashamed to have graduated from the same school as you.
I am a 3x Trump voter and I knew there would be things I would disagree with each time. Well, this is one of them right off the bat. Europe is a mess, yes, and deserve to have their peepees smacked. But to spurn them completely overnight while seemingly cozying up to Russia in the same breath is gross to see and something that could possible lead to a path of long term regret IMO. I don't like where this is going personally....
And yet they are still fighting hard while being grossly outgunned and outmanned at nearly every minute of this war. They have destroyed the very army that was built to dominate Europe and kept our parents awake at night and they did it while everyone expected them to lose in mere days. They did it while taking gruesome losses themselves to boot and still fight for their land and families that die every night in Russian strikes.Get Off My Lawn said:

No it wasn't it was an agreement that ceded territory in which the current Ukraine regime was persecuting prorussian people.

I don't see that any of them are spurned. It's just initial talks which allows the US to establish a framework for its own interests first before others get involved. This is a proxy war between the US and Russia after all.benchmark said:Exactly the same here. Well said. Thank you.Eliminatus said:

Well… let's not say "zero interest." There's a big interest. It's merely illegitimate. Our Blob wants to collapse Russia by severing Russia's oil from Europe. Which seems foolish and evil to me, but hey - I'm just a taxpayer a hemisphere away.Logos Stick said:

Forget the peace agreement then like the war mongers want in here and let's stop the money flow. Ukraine and Europe can fight for "democracy", which is a laughable joke.

But let's not fall for a sunk cost fallacy. None of us cared much about Ukraine's borders in 1991 or 2008 or even in 2012. Ukrainians may have: and that's their prerogative, but i still want no part in funding the perpetuation of a European death machine when it can end with a redrawing of lines that I don't care about. Let Zelensky appeal to Europe.
