Let's discuss what went well and what did not go well in the 1 month that Trump has been in office. He gets 48 months in total.

Good:
  • ICE raids, though they seem to have dropped off from the news
  • USAID scam exposed
  • Foreign aid stopped

Bad
  • No discussion on H1B visa misuse.
  • Idea of using DOGE savings to give a refund.
  • No discussion on paying down the $36T debt..

The panic Trump has the federal government in is the best part.

The pushback from leftist judges is the worst part.

Best - Trump going on the attack from Day 1 and bringing in Musk to expose all the waste, fraud, and abuse and then keeping the foot on the gas and forcing his message into the daily media narrative. People are currently more aware and angry at the federal government spending than I have seen since the Reagan era which is allowing him to actually cut programs and most importantly, fire needless and traitorous federal employees. He is truly draining the swamp.

When half the country doesn't pay any income tax, any tax cut will be "for the wealthy" so you can save some time typing unnecessary words.

The ones who want a $500-$1000 refund are the ones who have managed their finances poorly and live by the paycheck.

The ones who have managed it well don't care about a small refund. The refund is going to be small and in name only. It won't change anyone's life unless they are homeless.

I am okay with Trump giving a refund to people below a certain income limit though. It makes a big difference to them. It makes no difference to me and others who have managed things well.

Once again for the f-tards here.

~45% of Americans don't pay income tax.
The top 1% of wage earners pay over 40% of all the taxes.

This isn't hard to comprehend.

Nah, I'd rather the government put their big boy pants on and cut major spending items versus the cats and dogs that DOGE is doing right now. It was stolen (and abused) money from the taxpayer and should be returned immediately. Throwing these nickels at the national debt is like pissing in the wind.

Dave Ramsey would say investing that $1k or whatever for my kids future would build nicely over a generation.

You're missing the principle at stake here. It's why I'll never vote Democrat - they believe the taxes from the money you and I earn are theirs. Trump is trying to return the $s to those who actually paid into it.

I will never vote Dem either. I voted for Trump all 3 times.

However, I am also a realist. I don't blindly parrot "conservative policies" unless I think through them and they make sense to me. I am not a cultist, so someone making stuff up and calling it "conservative" won't sway me.

I actually think Trump should make a symbolic gesture of sending the saved money to pay down the debt. Yes, it may not make a big dent but it will convey that he is fiscally responsible. Just because we have some money freed up doesn't mean we distribute it and throw a party. That is how many in this country are in debt. They don't know what to do when they get a few extra bucks.
