Unions in the public sector should be outlawed!

"The order would eliminate collective bargaining rights from roughly 67 percent of the entire federal workforce and for 75 percent of workers who are already in a union, ..."

If working for the Federal Government was a right, everyone would be working for the government.

Fantastic news. Please salt the earth after so they can't grow back.

Public sector unions are a massive campaign contribution money laundering system for the Democrats.

They should be illegal. Trump's EO is spot on.

My maga buddies in Border Patrol are going to flip the eff out. They use the union all the time to get out of so many things.

We know he was against it, but it was even stronger than that, to quote his written statement:

Quote:

All Government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service. It has its distinct and insurmountable limitations when applied to public personnel management. The very nature and purposes of Government make it impossible for administrative officials to represent fully or to bind the employer in mutual discussions with Government employee organizations. The employer is the whole people, who speak by means of laws enacted by their representatives in Congress. Accordingly, administrative officials and employees alike are governed and guided, and in many instances restricted, by laws which establish policies, procedures, or rules in personnel matters.

Particularly, I want to emphasize my conviction that militant tactics have no place in the functions of any organization of Government employees. Upon employees in the Federal service rests the obligation to serve the whole people, whose interests and welfare require orderliness and continuity in the conduct of Government activities. This obligation is paramount. Since their own services have to do with the functioning of the Government, a strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent on their part to prevent or obstruct the operations of Government until their demands are satisfied. Such action, looking toward the paralysis of Government by those who have sworn to support it, is unthinkable and intolerable. It is, therefore, with a feeling of gratification that I have noted in the constitution of the National Federation of Federal Employees the provision that "under no circumstances shall this Federation engage in or support strikes against the United States Government."

That CBP Union saved a very close relative about $20k he was being screwed out of in a promotion. He was a "shop representative " between the worker bees and upper management for a while and will be the first to agree with you on the whining and bs, but don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

I hear you, but when the approach is to take a chainsaw to things, the baby is very likely going to be collateral damage.

As much as I hate unions (and I HATE them) I think I'm to the point now where I hate corporate (and government) management just as much.

On another note - can you imagine all these unions going on strike to cripple the government? We may have already reached the point of no return.

They would be fired at the federal level. Ask Air Traffic Controllers under Reagan how that worked out. Public workers should NEVER be allowed to strike at any level.

It's literally spelled out in the OP!

The right to collectively bargain. And the President (the employer here) has the right to take that right away for Federal employees!

The workers should be free to associate and raise grievances as a group as protected by the first amendment. They should not be free to organize work stoppages or slowdowns or force or require any sort of collective bargaining for compensation, or require membership without consequences.

The majority of public sector union members voted for Trump, but whatever… in any case I agree public sector unions are sucking the blood out of taxpayers federal, state, and most especially local.

Wrong.

The vast majority of public unions supported Harris.

Here are some big ones.

American Federation of Teachers (AFT): Representing 1.7 million teachers and education professionals, the AFT was among the first to endorse Harris after she announced her candidacy, highlighting her pro-labor stance.

National Education Association (NEA): With approximately 3 million members, including teachers and school staff, the NEA pledged its support for Harris, aligning with her campaign's focus on education and workers' rights.

American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME): This union, representing 1.4 million public service workers such as government employees, endorsed Harris, emphasizing her record of supporting public-sector labor.

American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE): As the largest union of federal employees, representing over 750,000 workers, AFGE unanimously endorsed Harris, citing her leadership on the White House Task Force on Worker Organizing and Empowerment.

National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU): Representing federal employees across various agencies, the NTEU backed Harris, praising her support for federal workers' rights.
