I don't know that much about Israel's economy, how much is centrally planned? Can they force their private companies/retailers to buy US goods to close the deficit? How would this work in any country that doesn't use central planning of goods/purchases?

Can't answer all your questions but they sure as **** can modify their stupid "what's good for Europe is good for Israel" policy, especially as it relates to import controls, to "what's good for USA and Europe is good for Israel".
