More than 100 presidents of US colleges and universities have signed a statement denouncing the Trump administration's "unprecedented government overreach and political interference" with higher education the strongest sign yet that US educational institutions are forming a unified front against the government's extraordinary attack on their independence.

It has long been known you take Uncle Sam's dollar, you dance to his tune. They were fine taking it with Dems in charge. Buckle up buttercups.

Here's the letter and signatories:

Trump needs to find a way to eliminate government backed loans. Independence my ass. Universities leach off the government and in return they churn out indoctrinated morons.

John Hopkins was the number one university voice during the pandemic - and constructed Covid rehearsal and reactive plans for all of us. They were the institution of "science" behind the witchery.

The list of signees are pretty much exactly who you would have expected. For the most part, East Coast, West Coast, Ivy League, small liberal colleges, and a whole bunch of who-is-that type schools. SEC, SEC, SEC!

They probably had the signatures collected on Nov 8 and have just been waiting to fill in the body of the email.

If these universities are selling a product that is in demand, why do they need government subsidies? Won't the private sector pay for their climate research and queer theory graduate degrees based on the profit potential alone? Are they angry because they can't get access to unlimited amounts of fetal tissue for their labs?

Of course they don't like Trump reducing the amount of money they get from Uncle Sam. No surprise there.

They say that Trump takes away their independence, while they take away independent thinking and encourage group think and of course their way of thinking.

Harvard and all these other universities should be celebrating their independence from the government.

An attack on their "independence" lol.

Why does the news report the exact opposite of the truth?

It's an attack on their dependence.

I believe they were/are also the one running the massive child abuse scheme via gender surgeries for minors. But maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

If they want to be truly independent they need to stop taking federal funding.

Which school is that?

Because in my 2 or 3 perusings of the list, I didn't see one.

As an aside, it was nice to see that none of the 3 schools I've attended were on the list...

Same, don't see one either.

Most look to be private schools, probably almost al liberal arts colleges.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill
