It's just a terrible idea if one check for $5k incentivizes a family to have an extra child then you probably can't afford that child

Exactly. A tax break would make more sense if you want to encourage responsible families to have more kids. I'm against either btw

I agree with pretty much everything you put in here and on your other post.

These are the real things that need to be dealt with, but very difficult to execute.

This is a great idea, honestly. We can't have a negative population decline or the country will die off.

We need young people to have an economy. We need free childcare for everyone IMO. It should not cost everyone 2k a month for a daycare when we have public schools already. I'm not exactly sure how we address this, but it can't be harder to have and support your kids than being single and just living YOLO.
Easy there, free childcare and public schools are liberal ideas.
I'm not sure how to do this and prevent the concept of Government run/Free. I'm already paying taxes for public schools, but my kids are not kept all day long (8am-5pm).... Should they be? Should that include 30 minutes to cover before and after care? I think it should. that would give work to the teenagers that can't find work now.

I know we can't punish people for having kids because the US needs legitimate smart kids to be competitive. Population decline is a real problem for the future of this country. We are better off than most of the world, but that is a direct result of that open border BS that I am not ok with.

Countries have tried this and I believe it's had a negligible impact on birth rates.

In RuZZia you get a medal for wearing out your uterus and having 10 children for the Motherland.

in america at least, declining birthrates are closely tied to 1) collapsing teen pregnancy rates over the last 50 years (arguably a net positive), and 2) birth rates for women under 25 falling sharply since the Great Recession

women 25-29 are slightly down, and women over 30 are up over that span, but not enough to balance out the other declines. whether they're right or wrong, young adults do not feel stable enough to have children and menial financial incentives won't change that.

Let's tweak those requirements for which mothers get that $5000 and we got something to talk about.

Once trump makes the stock market go back to all time highs, I'll gladly contribute my fair share to this program. Until then, hell no.

I wonder how many families can emotionally support more kids? And certainly $5000 isn't remotely enough to raise a kid. Sadly, plenty of stupid people will procreate thinking the $5K windfall will allow them to buy more lottery tickets or gold teeth or tattoos.

And if you get divorced you pay it back with reasonable interest.

We need to focus on closing the loophole of I wasn't happy so I ran away. Don't need more kids in single parent households.

World and country has way more issues than not enough kids. If the kids are too lazy to work not needed. We need to focus on faith, family, and work ethic. After that the kids would come. This is not a good idea from Trump. Had to be Elon wanting to get paid for his Doge work. Lol

Maybe, but which is more likely to get people excited, a tax break (assuming they even work) or $5,000 in cash? I'm betting that to more people than not, the cash is way more tempting.

I'm a big fan of natalism but I don't think this is the best policy. A few broader principles that I think would work:

1- Any benefits whether they be cash, tax breaks, etc MUST be tied to married couples.
2- Young women must be disincentivized out of the work force. Very controversial but single income households are extremely difficult to establish and maintain even though they are absolutely essential to raising TFR.
3- No fault divorce needs to be curtailed or eliminated. The amount of social destruction this has caused is incalculable.
4- Something must be done about widespread artificial contraception, especially the BC pill. Religious opposition aside, which is correct btw, there is no way that persistent BC pill use isn't doing enormous damage to women's health and fertility. I'm convinced that it's a major contributing factor, along with women waiting until they're older, to the widespread fertility issues we are seeing among women who are trying to conceive.

All that said, I'm not too proud to turn down free cash for kids I was going to have anyway haha.

Increasing the child tax credit. The Child Tax Credit is a nonrefundable credit, which means that it can be used to reduce your tax bill to zero but will not result in a refund. If you earn enough to pay a tax, then you get the credit. No other way is acceptable.

Here's an idea: No personal federal income tax if you are married and have two kids under 18 in your household.

The purpose would be to incentives educated and prosperous families to have children. If you're a doctor you'd have a significant incentive to have a bunch of kids raised in a two parent household.

Oh, and marriage should be defined as it has been for all of history except for the last 5 minutes, as a public and legal union between one man and one woman for the purpose of raising children in a family.

You can offer all the cash/tax credits in the world to get people to have babies, but if they do not see a future for themselves why do you think they would want to bring another human in this world?

You mean actually fixing the problem and not just enacting more and more fiscally liberal policy trying to "fix" the problem? That's a revolutionary idea apparently.
