If you can only laugh when they make fun of the other guys, comedy probably isn't your thing anyway

This is mostly what comedy is now. Of course you can only make fun of one side without getting canceled.
Such courage on the part of the SP folk...

It's South Park. They make fun of literally everyone.

Did they make fun of anyone in the Biden admin in the last 4 years? Show me that episode.

They tried but the Biden team kept beating them to the punch with crazier and crazier behavior and they couldn't keep up. Biden presidency was one long Southpark episode...

Well put, but note that Trey Stone etc. had some conflicts of interest there.

Would anyone really doubt the two come up with storylines high as a kite, as per hunter and their lawyer? I don't care.

And, Trump probably ticked them off by stealing their invade Canada story. That's still funny, too.

It's South Park. Who cares. I think where they really missed an opportunity was 2020-2021. That was 2 years of straight up human stupidity(so much potential material) and it seemed like Trey and Matt just punted for some reason.

So Trump's going to get them cancelled like he did Colbert, right?

Right?

Right?

Unlike Colbert, South Park is well liked and watched by people across the spectrum and profitable. Colbert wasn't canceled by Trump. He did it all on his own by losing viewers and making the show a massive loss for CBS.

The clips I've seen are a retread of Sadam and satan. The real poetry here is the CBS - Paramount ties and how butthurt Trump and MAGA will get over this. Absolute art. And we have yet to watch it unfold.

I doubt Trump reacts at all and if he does it won't come close to the bitterness we're seeing from Colbert and the late night comedians this past week over Trump getting paid out by CBS.

They sleep-walked through the Biden years. It's unfortunate they held back when there was so much potential for mockery with everything that was going on. They still make me laugh though. Hopefully they get back to their brand of mocking both sides.

Let me be sure I am getting this right.

South Park didn't parody Biden/Harris the four years they were in office? Not at all?

Excuse the ignorance here, I haven't watched many episodes in the last 15+ years.

are yall telling me they not only left "vegetable in chief" alone, but they also did nothing with the covid ridiculousness? all that stuff with pangolins, plexiglass, plastic bubbles, social distancing circles and barriers, triple masks while alone outside, etc. not to mention the lockdown, mask, and vaccine tyrannical mandates?

wow. for a show that used to just unabashedly destroy anything and everything and anyone and everyone, how do they leave that great material alone?

They missed a couple of seasons recently over legal disputes and covid. A regular season is only 6 episodes total. They historical avoid politicians anyway for the most part and stick to social commentary. Even during the first Trump term they avoided him for the most part.

I asked my buddy Grok about the lack of Biden era episodes as I thought that was a really good question. It looks like folks here are correct that it was due to a mix of legal issues and the admin outpacing the writing in making errors.

---------------
The creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, have not extensively satirized Joe Biden's presidency for a few reasons based on available information. They have expressed frustration with political satire becoming increasingly difficult because real-world events often outpace their ability to exaggerate or mock them effectively. Parker has noted that "satire has become reality," making it challenging to create fresh commentary on political figures like Biden when real-life absurdities are already so prominent. Additionally, South Park was largely absent from regular seasonal releases during much of Biden's presidency, focusing instead on specials and movies due to production changes and a new contract structure with Paramount+ and Max. Only 12 episodes aired during Biden's term, limiting opportunities for political commentary

The only reason they ever used trump so much originally was because they stupidly tied him to Garrison's character

They touched on the covid stupidity, but they could have gone a lot harder. The toilet paper shortage was something they didn't use and that could have been 1 whole ridiculous episode by itself.

The About Last Night episode where Obama wins and it's actually a plot for a heist, is gold. It's probably loosely based on what actually happened between Obama and McCain.

It sucks we haven't had normal SP over the last few years, we have desperately needed it. Hope all the legal **** has been taken care of.

People were already mad before the episode came out because Paramount has been removing episodes from the South Park library that are "too controversial" (the Muslim episode in particular).

Of course there will be people on the right that view the latest episode as South Park going left in that context. That's just how people are.

Making fun of presidents is a hallowed and at this point ancient American tradition. Dig up some old political cartoons from the 1800s some time. They make the South Park episode look cute and innocent by comparison.

And presidents, up until this one, have been good sports about it. Even Nixon poked fun at himself.

Also the SP episode was pretty tame compared to the Borat "fat King Donald" bit.

From the video posted earlier in the thread, they only produced 20 episodes during the Biden years. That's crazy, but sounds about right. They really need to quit being so lazy and produce a lot more content. I'm fine with them not bashing Biden, we don't need another show that hyper-focuses its 'comedy' on politics. I haven't seen this episode yet, but I assume it isn't 100% anti-trump, as long as you aren't hyper-sensitive about everything.

Why would anyone care? They've always been down on Trump. So are most of the shows out there so no one really cares about that. Don't you remember the whole Garrison/Trump comparison?

The question is though is it funny. I haven't had a chance to watch it. I don't care who they skewer, but sometimes they do get the reasons they're skewering wrong.

The only clip that I saw was them basically acting like they were scared of getting canceled because of Trump. Like CBS was bowing down to Trump.

The Colbert show was not canceled because of Trump. 60 minutes and CBS did not pay money to Trump because he's the president or he wanted it to be that way. They paid money because they were wrong in what they said, it was liabel and Colbert was losing $40 million a show.

But it was a bit funny. Cartman freaking out about things is always funny to a degree.

So I don't care who you make fun of just make sure you're actually being truthful about it. They're just playing into the Democrats hands of the messaging on this. But it's their show. They can do what they want. No one has to watch.

If they go hard on their Obama thing right now, and I do not believe they will, the same people that are cheering this on will start to throw his hissy fits.

They could've been so funny in their Covid episodes and they started out good but just went dumb.
