Her experience was activism. She's trying to use activist tactics to administrate and they are entirely wrong for that type of work.

In fairness, it's only about $40,000 per kid once Dora and Rodney get their cut and 10% to the big guy.

County Judge is her first real job.

No, I think we knew her quite well.

She is a sniveling brat, a brain-dead moron, and a communist rat. Good riddance to this trash.

Someone will cry racism.

Never mind that there are many, many reasons why Lina was never fit to be the judge. She's not fit to be a County Judge in Austin County, much less Harris County.

The gift of Beto continues to haunt Harris country.

if you look at the numbers, it was not beto that won her the election. it was moron libertarians mad about the astrodome that thought the astrodome was some majorly important deal. they voted for the libertarian candidate instead of ed emmett and his margin of loss was that number that wasted their vote on libertarian.

if there was ever a race to show why voting third party is not just some cool protest, its that one.

Bingo. I was one of those libertarians who didn't vote for Ed. At the time I figured Ed would still win reelection, but at least the GOP would see that folks were growing tired of Ed's dome shenanigans.
Looking back, I sort of regret it but Ed's hard on for the dome & wanting to continue to spend tax payer money on it was tiresome. The people let Ed know their wishes and he continues to ignore them, and even go out of his way to undermine their wishes.

But there has been another election since then and Dora won that one. Can't blame voters going 3rd party on that election.
Perhaps the GOP should run a decent candidate and give them the support they need to win.

She'd would be run out of Bellville & Sealy before one single primary vote had occurred. What's Austin County? 75%-80% conservative? .

I think mealer was a decent candidate. Not sure about the support she received from the party, bit there were definitely shenanigans at the polling places.

Yep. And the lackey was busted but the results remained.

Anyone is light-years better than Dora. You're right, she was a decent candidate. I just remember it seemed like Mattress Mack was funding/pushing her hard and idk if the GOP was doing anything to help her.

And great point on shenanigans at the polling places, but let's not kid ourselves the Dems have always been cheating. This isn't new, and again the GOP should have been ready and prepared to fight (goes to the lack of support).

She should be removed from office. She's not only not competent, but she's not emotionally or mentally stable or fit in any way to hold that office.

In a sane world, she would have never been elected/reelected in the first place.

If Republicans would run a good candidate and unify around them, this seat is ripe for the picking. I still believe there are enough red areas in Harris County, outside the City of Houston, that a big Republican turnout could win it, especially in a non-presidential election year.

So for those who voted for her because she was a woman or Hispanic or had mental illness handicap or because she was a democrat: Is her behavior acceptable? Do any of the above boxes she checks give her an excuse to act the way she acts, or be as incompetent as she is? Is this acceptable to you just because she is a woman, Hispanic, ill or Democrat? Is she better than say a moderate democrat or even a RINO?
Why would you want to keep someone who obviously is in over head? Is it because she checks same box as you do? If that is so,, do you not care about the millions of others in Harris County?

They never speak up. People tell us all the time that "I didn't agree with________," but they never say that at the time. Wonder why. It's a hallmark of concerned moderates.

Leftists have no problem with Lina and they didn't have a problem with a president who wasn't in charge. There will be no condemnation from them.

This is what the Dem party is now. Leftist loudmouths who screech over anyone trying to have a civil conversation, who crave power to grift under the guise of helping people, make constant claims of democracy being under threat despite being the ones that threaten it, and who hate America. Instead of running from it, you have national Dems embracing the likes of Mamdani, Crockett, AOC, and others.

I assume all commissioner's courts film their proceedings. Maybe we ought to send Harris county an example of how a meeting is run. Let them see how disagreements are handled by civil people. Or is this the "new norm"?

Does anybody have any experience in an elected official in Texas being removed? How easy or hard is it to remove someone? I can remember people resigning but I can't remember someone being removed but I don't pay that close attention outside of my own county and places I work so I probably just missed it.

I'll never understand this. She won by 2% points. A very significant % of good people in Houston and the red Harris County suburbs did NOT vote for her. This isn't some deep blue coastal place where she won in a crushing landslide. Almost half of Harris County DOES NOT deserve this.

There was cheating of some sort. We all know that instinctively.

Her behavior isn't surprising. She has flew off the handle before.

It was the Beto wave and Emmet's complacency, in addition to the libertarians. He was trailing clouds of glory after the Harvey response and didn't foresee what was coming. Too bad that seat was lost, it may never be regained. Republicans contributed to her retaining that seat in the last election by putting forward carpetbagger neophyte Mealer (because of grrrrlll power) instead of someone proven and experienced like Martinez.

Met with a lot of county judges in my career and became friends with more than a few. This is true according to them and my personal observances. Texas county judges serve in an administrative capacity within county govt for the most part with some limited actual judicial duties. There is no need for them to vote for any reason other than a tiebreaker. Sat through many a county meeting all over the state and when it came to a vote if the vote was 3 to 1 the Judge's never cast a vote.

Clean the voter rolls and I bet Rs can take Harris county back, even with the fleeing of Rs to surrounding counties, Harris is still close

This is interesting, from an ultra-liberal attorney friend of mine:
Quote:

I'm a mandatory reporter of child neglect and abuse and what I saw was beyond inappropriate and not in line with what the law allows for daycare field trips. I found that adults who were there are extremely upset and emotionally affected by what they saw so I cannot imagine what's going on with those kids. Im not naming my sources but I learned that a child went missing during that chaos and I learned that Lina Hidalgo approached these facilities and asked them to bring these children for her to use as pawns in political theater. I reported all of this to DFPS as I had no choice but to do so. I'm pissed at the daycare owners who did this and they are in violation of the law, I'm very disappointed in Judge Hidalgo and I hope she understands that she has likely put these daycares in jeopardy of losing their licenses for participating in this stunt.
