Did Trump do an anti-Semitic canard? I recall being told that claiming that the Israeli lobby was strong and had control of Congress, made you Hitler, but perhaps Trump might be forgiven?

Interesting that she referenced polling about unfavorable views of Israel within the Republican party, and didnt speak a whimper about the same exact statistic among Democrats.

This is funny on a few different levels

As BigRob said, the "Military Industrial Complex" and big Big Pharma have far more influence on Congress than Israel ever did.

Virtually every member of Congress takes money from defense contractors and drug companies like Pfizer spend more on lobbying than research by several orders of magnitude.

Guess we were overdue for another anti-Israel/Jew thread.

Did OP read the full excerpt? Trump was lamenting the drop in support of Israel.

He was simply marveling at the turn of events from the untouchable status Israel had before. He even brought up remembering October 7th, so it seems he believes they're justified in what they're doing.

My point was that statement is not an anti-Semitic rumor like you said in your thread starter. At least if someone does, Trump doesn't appear to.

Whether you think Trump's sentiment is unintentionally spreading anti-Semitic rhetoric is up to you, but it sounded like he just was calling a spade a spade, in his mind.

I caught that too. It read like he was disappointed that Israel (a foreign government) does not control our Congress as much as they used to. That is a really weird sentiment from a sitting President.

The funny part is, the anti-Israel crowd wants so badly to hang on this, but also if they do hang on this the way they want to, then they have to also go along with the idea that Israel NO LONGER has control over congress... which is not part of their Jewish conspiracy worldview

Yes, I read the quote. He is remarking how astonishing it is that the Democrats have become so antisemitic when it was political suicide to do so a decade ago. That is objectively true, and some of the older Democrats still pretend to be pro-Israel.

He's not confirming your vast conspiracies about the meddling Jews. He's remarking how political sentiment has changed and the pro-Israel lobby is becoming less effective in their goal of promoting candidates that support a strong relationship with Israel. If you look at demographic surveys, young people are far less pro-Israel, so it makes a lot of sense and blows giant holes in your asinine belief the AIPAC is some shady puppet master.

Trump is the most pro-Israel president we've ever had. You reading your confirmation bias into his comment does change that. But I guess when you're a hammer, everything is a nail.
