Damn this sucks. Trump seems to be just another charlatan unless he fixes this. Does he thinks that we are fools and cannot read?
Was Lutnick lying? Or did they try to cheat us right from the beginning?
A few H1B pimps I know are rejoicing.

I hope this new fee has a side effect of fewer foreigners filling up our grad school programs.

H1 is for jobs.
F1 is the student VISA, no change there.

This will still affect new H1s.

I haven't read the entire thread, but the original article said it's a fee on H1s.
It didn't clarify new or renewals.

Now the admin is clarifying new.
That means if you already have an H1, and need to renew , $100,000v ( I think it's every 3 years) {Corrected)

This pretty much means the end of H1s for a majority of cases, but it gives American companies some time to adjust.

The danger is change of administration

Incorrect. "This applies only to new visas, not renewals, and not current visa holders."

So there will not be a $100,000 fee paid every 3 years on current H1Bs, as you stated.

uh....ya'll better hope this doesn't apply to medical doctors. This will create real problems for staffing hospitals and you can't just fill those holes with qualified people quickly.

I'm all for returning jobs to citizens but maybe we need to have a less bombastic plan?

LMAO. Yeah, we need third world doctors because we cant matriculate quality in-country. We have the best med schools on Planet Earth.

Dude everyone knows "top talent" comes from outside that US. Thats why this country was trash before we started doing H1B in the 1990s.

To answer your question, yes. Most of the GOP base are irredeemable midwits. Yes, Lutnik was lying. It was always just a gesture to appease his base without actually doing anything. You know why? Because they will keep lining up to vote GOP no matter how many times they are betrayed.

But don't they typically stick around to get a H1B visa right after they graduate to get a job in the US? Maybe if they can't do that they won't want to come here in the first place.

I hope this doesn't go for renewals. I have an H-1B that is my best employee. He's in the process of waiting for his green card, but since he's Indian, it will take years. If I have to replace him, I'm going to be very disappointed.

No offense, but at this point I'm ok with a little collateral damage.

No offense taken, but I love the guy, and he's a tremendous asset.

If he's that much of an asset, pay the fee for him.

The university is not going to pay that.

The only thing that may be positive is Trump felt that he did not want to give the tech industry too much of a jolt. So he may do this in phases. He is known to change his mind whenever he wants, so he may change this as well.

If not, say goodbye to America as you know it.

The dems would clean up if they stopped H1B visas etc, but theyre probably too lost to use common sense

For American physician dominated fields like surgical subspecialties, radiology, dermatology this will have no effect. The low paying fields are full of international grads. Even some of the moderately high paying fields like cardiology and gastroenterology are full of international physicians

Thank God I am primarily an investor now. The more the H1B slaves the richer I get.
Which is a sad thing for my kids and future grandkids.

America is a country for investors. You cannot get ahead here by "working hard" anymore. The oligarchs sold it off.

Why would the dems do that? The dems want to flood this country with foreigners just as badly as the GOP does; albeit for different reasons.

Vance is a creation of silicon valley. His entire political career and position is owed to Peter Thiel. He is also married to an Indian. Vance is not going to shut down H1B

Vance married to a woman of Indian origin has nothing to do with it. Many Indians I know who became citizens decades ago themselves are embarrassed of this flood of Indians.

The rest, okay.

This is so insulting. I'd almost they rather do nothing than this weak joke of an EO. No wonder Trump said the CEOs liked it. And Lutnick is an idiot. Why is he spouting nonsense… it only takes 5 minutes to read the EO and understand it's not an annual fee.
