He deserves pretty severe punishment for that, actually. A giant sinkhole of R&D and federal tax breaks that resulted in a **** product only hobbyists could really appreciate. However, he has done other, good things to balance the EV crime out.

That was the incentive pay package Musk received from the board of Tesla if he reaches certain aggressive milestones with Tesla.

  • Requirements:
To receive the full payout, Musk must achieve several audacious operational goals, including:

    • Raising Tesla's market value to $8.5 trillion.
    • Deploying one million autonomous taxis.
    • Producing one million humanoid robots.
    • Achieving more than a 24-fold increase in Tesla's profit.

Insane goals, insane payout. Curious to see what kind of progress they've made since that announcement.

Since that announcement was made on Sept-5, Tesla stock is up almost 28% as of today. The S&P 500 is up 3% since that date.

Pretty amazing considering the hit Tesla stock took during his DOGE days.

That was awesome. I bought a chunk when it was down. Wish I bought more.

Also bought a Tesla. The car is amazing. Drives me to/from work each day. Keep checking the Tesla app for the release of FSD 14. (Fuill Service Driving)

My experience too.

Was planning to test drive a Mustang GT. Stopped by the Tesla dealership first.
I was sold in 5 minutes of driving it.
Teslas are freaking amazing to drive.
Do yourself a favor, and test drive one next time you are in the market for a vehicle.

Interesting. I just got my wife an Audi. It is amazing. Now I want to try a Tesla.

I just hate the look of Teslas. I am a traditionalist, I love the look of the 1920s cars for example. I believe 80s and onward car design has generally been bad.

I did not expect to like the car as much as I did. They restyled the Model 3. I got the performance, and the only time I've experienced acceleration like that was on a motorcycle. It is stupid fast.

The ability to just plug it in at night in your garage really grows on you. I never have to visit a gas station. Already saved a ton on gas. I used a supercharger to try it out, and I could barely eat at a Panera bread before it was back up to 80% from 20%. I'm not going to use it for long range travel, but I think the range anxiety is overblown. I'd have no problem using it for that.

The over the air updates are cool. You just keep getting new features and upgrades. I also got 0% financing for 60 months, so I have that money in the stock market getting returns.

You also get addicted to FSD. FSD 14, I hope, will be a game changer.

My Roush Mustang was getting pretty old. I replaced it with a Model 3 performance and haven't looked back (where all the cars I left behind are). Driving is fun and as a techie it's cool to integrate it into my home automation system.

Entire country? Please.

Tesla is one part of his overall portfolio and I still don't think most people understand what Tesla really is.

Speaking of ugly design.

The design team of the Pontiac Aztek must have popped champagne corks when the CyberTruck came out. They must have been convinced they were going to their grave having designed the ugliest (yes……..a few others are worthy of mention) vehicle in American history.

Now they can relax knowing the Aztek can't hold a candle to the CyberTruck's ugliness.

I don't understand, why do fake conservatives hate EVs? It seems to be the next step in car tech.

Or are they secretly scared the O&G industry will become obsolete so hide under some "we are conservatives.. we love oil" notion?

A coworker's husband has one of the first cybertrucks, both of his kids drive Tesla cars, and my coworker is looking at getting a Tesla S next month.

Once they drove Teslas they never looked at any other vehicles.

I guess I don't understand your question or assortations.

Who are the fake conservatives who hate EV's?

I think I speak for most conservatives when I offer this. I don't hate EV's at all, I just don't want one. It doesn't work for my lifestyle. I disagree vehemently with the govt subsidizing them. I know for a fact we don't have anywhere near the energy production or distribution capacity to support a mass shift to EV's, which is obviously problematic. AI and data centers are only compounding that reality, greatly. I also know that "green energy" is a crock of **** and EV's are not more environmentally friendly than combustion engine powered vehicles, overall.

And while I am not financially beholden to O&G and have never worked in the industry, I guess that I do love oil because oil is the life blood of the civilization we have built. It has generated more advances in standard of living than any other commodity. Pretty good stuff and we are nowhere close to replacing it unless we want to ride bikes everywhere and live in efficiency apartments with the thermostat set at 85 in the summer and 55 in the winter. I don't want that.

He deserves pretty severe punishment for that, actually. A giant sinkhole of R&D and federal tax breaks that resulted in a **** product only hobbyists could really appreciate. However, he has done other, good things to balance the EV crime out.

**** product only hobbyists can appreciate? Dude he's selling over a million a year and every person who buys one loves it. I bought a model 3 a few months ago at the end of the EV credit period and it is freakin awesome. Software package that's night and day better than competitors' interfaces, impossibly smooth driving (everybody who gets in comments on this), neck snapping acceleration (and I got the pedestrian all wheel drive, not the performance version), plenty of range, and a full self driving capability that, while not ready to chauffer your grandmother around, can easily handle 90% of your daily commute. It feels like a space ship compared to my old car.

The most important lesson, and the one the left can't grasp, is it's not a zero sum game. You don't have to hate Elon because he's rich. While you'll never be as rich as him most likely, we live in an amazing country where this is possible. So make your fortune, raise your family, be a good citizen and live an honorable life without government intervention and you'll be so much happier.

Our Mazda CX5 is only 6 yrs old, but when we get rid of it we are very likely to go Tesla. FSD will be a game-changer for older Americans, and for those stuck on the roads with them.

Within a couple of years, for grandmother too. She won't even have to remember where she parked the car.

FSD was the reason I got a Tesla. I do a 30 mile commute each way a few times a week (far out suburbs), so I was hoping that FSD could take the edge off of that drive. For me, it has accomplished that and then some. It's not perfect, but after you get a feel for it and learn where it's strong and where it's weak, you can let it handle the grand majority of your boring commute while you give only light attention.

Musk is just 54.
He will hit 1T soon and by the time he is 60, he will hit 5T and by 70 he will be at 10T/15T.

While this is great, what stops him from misusing his wealth? He can pay off anyone and any organization. He will be the ruler of America and of the world.
