Honestly, why not? We look forward to it every year. Granted we're in a small community, only about 100 houses, so we don't get much traffic. But our kids are grown up and we enjoy the little ones and their costumes and if parents want a glass of wine or a beer that's great too. Have some damn fun people.

Last year was the last time for us. 1 out of every 3 kids was a highschooler with no costume that couldn't even be bothered to look up from their phone to interact beyond grabbing candy and walking away. Expensive candy is just poop flavored icing on the doodoo cake.

We wrap up separate "premium" bars in bags. But, our traffic has dwindled to nothing post Covid. Last year was 3 parties (maybe 5 or 6 kids).

Mrs. has detemined "no soup for you" this year.

Candy should be expensive. There's already too many little diabetics running around. Little Jimmy doesn't need a three year supply of sugar and a lifetime of insulin.

We take our kids around the neighborhood and far too many houses have so much they just throw in 2-3 adult size handfuls in each bag. We end up giving most of it away at the kid's sporting events, practices, birthday parties, guests, etc.

I bought a bag of 60 pieces for about $14 from HEB this past Monday, and that bag consists of M&M and mini-Snickers pieces.

Seriously. Grab 2 bags. 600 pieces on the bottom shelf and you're looking at enough for 50-60 kids. Make a bunch of kids happy and Make Halloween Great Again for $50. That's less than a decent dinner out for 2 and definitely brings more joy. I can't imagine being so cheap to pretend I'm not home to save a few bucks on candy.

This was my haul at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party a few weeks ago. Probably $60 or so retail.

10 pcs of candy per kid? We'd be out in about 10 min at that rate.

RFK jr is going to have everyone put a scale on the front porch. If the little candy goblin is over the height/weight limit, no candy for you kid. Move along. If the kid is emaciated give them a sammich & a card with child protective services phone number on it. And If the kid can't speak English, get their name and report them to ICE.

I'm pretty lucky and never get trick or treaters eventhough I live in a big neighborhood. It's because all the kids, from every neighborhood, go to Swiss Ave cause it's just a party on that street and has been for many years.

We live in a neighborhood everyone comes to. People driving by with hay on trailers & hundreds of kids. We go all out with decorations - 12 foot moving grim reapers, mannequins dressed as witches circled around a glowing, bubbling cauldron, smoke machine, the works. I start buying one big bag of candy each trip to HEB starting in September and we give out all of it. Last year I accidentally tossed the remote to the smoke machine in some teenagers bag. Thankfully he came back by & we found it. I love Halloween!
