These big rig accidents are becoming more common?

The only shocking aspect of all this to me is how many people are apparently just now noticing how many accidents/near accidents are caused by truckers. This has been a problem for as long as I've been driving and I assume much longer. There may be an immigrant problem now, but if so then they're just replacing the 75 IQ Americans who were killing people before them.

At least once a year I nearly get run off the road by drifting semi. I've lost count how many times I've seen one clip a guardrail or take a turn too wide and get themselves stuck, or damage another car/property. They drive in clearly marked areas where they are not supposed to regularly. They're incredibly dangerous.

There may be illegals raping 12 year old girls and college women running on campus. But what of it? They are just replacing Americans who do the same thing!

Excepting Trump, we have had lax enforcement of our immigration laws for at least two generations now. We obviously have Democrat states looking the other way while their offices issue CDLs to illegals without training or qualification.

And you wonder why the truckers are more dangerous?

Perhaps you should look at California and ask them why Jadeep and Usama get CDLs when the bulk of their training comes from driving a goat cart in Lahore or Madras.

A couple factors.

1 - Almost all Sikhs have Singh as their surname.
2 - Sikhs specialize in driving.

Kind of like how the Patels specialized in dirty, cockroach infested, poorly maintained hotels/motels?

I worked a couple of summers for a sheet metal roofing company that would send me and an experienced guy out on quick repair jobs. His comment when it was a hotel job was "There are hotels and there are motels. But today we're going out to a patel. I hate these kind of days."

Anecdotal so isn't worth much, but I honestly feel like I have seen far more "wtf?" moments with truckers over the past 1-2 years than I can ever remember. I spend a fair amount of time on 45 and 35 and historically my main complaint was largely limited to the trucker doing 60 passing the trucker doing 59.5 in a 70mph zone. But otherwise steady, predictable driving. But I've seen all sorts of wtf these past few years.

It's worth the lives of innocent Americans.

Therefore the problem. These Californian illegals are driving cross country with their Californian papers.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least to see federal checkpoints popping up all over on interstates to remove illegal drivers

Wasn't the state of Oklahoma already doing this? They are the ones that uncovered the No Name drivers?

It would be great if there was a separate freight highway system so these jackasses can crash into other vehicles of similar size.

Yes. It's the same situation.

If you look, you'll notice there are a lot of truck stops that specialize in Punjabi food. Especially in the California Central Valley.

When I lived in Sydney, I preferred to use the taxi company Silver Service because most of their drivers were Sikhs.

They were always prompt, courteous, clean, etc. Other taxi companies not so much.

Anecdotal but I have plenty of drivers show up in last 2 years that speak poor English and they can't back in to dock worth a crap. I have a sped up video that I overlayed with Benny Hill theme where a guy fought for 34 mins to back into the dock and finally a white driver told him to get out and he backed it in first stab.
Try non-addressed delivery sites where a foreign language GPS can't get them to a laydown. The ensuing hour long call between a foreman or material handler and a near-noncommunicable truck driver who's trying to find turn-around and road signs and making turns… harrowing. It's probably better when's there's no cell reception and they just have to explore the area.

I agree with you.

And I think this is where Obama and his "shovel-ready jobs" really failed.

We're long overdue for an Eisenhower Interstate System 2.0 or even 3.0.

What I'd like to see is 3 systems:

1 - regular folks
2 - freight
3 - self-driving cars

This is what a quick search gave me

In recent years, multivehicle accidents involving large trucks have increased significantly, with more than 5,000 fatal truck crashes reported in 2023. These crashes disproportionately affect occupants of other vehicles, who make up the majority of fatalities.
Statistics on the rise of multicar truck accidents
The number of large trucks involved in fatal crashes increased by 49% between 2012 and 2022.

I've always assumed that #2 would actually develop first for big rigs as part of the highway system simply because we are talking mostly straight aways on the highway system and the ROI is huge. We currently have self driving trucks operating in Texas, but I'm not sure to what degree. If done right, it doesn't require a new, separate road system either which would be monumentally costly.

However, it looks like Elon is going to get #3 to the market first using existing infrastructure. I saw my first Waymo last week in Phoenix. It was weird to see a car driving around with zero occupants.

Fleccas Talks is a podcast on YouTube put out twice a week, they usually have a section every episode of illegal truck drivers causing accidents or doing the dumbest **** you've ever seen behind the wheel of a truck. This has been going on for a few years now. Most of them can't speak English, how in the hell are they reading road signs?

California and NY are even issuing CDLs with 'No Name Given' on the ID. Oklahoma has been nailing the Cali illegal drivers at their weigh stations. It's absolutely terrifying they are letting some of these guys haul the loads they haul down the road when they can't even read any signs.

They shouldn't need to be the gatekeeper. They should see license and history and hire accordingly. If the credentialing agency isn't gatekeeping, that's the critical failure point. And I'd be ok with Trump sticking it to any states who's illegal licensing leniency is putting my family at risk.

Exactly. As shady as some of these trucking agencies may be, you allow them to be that way when the govt is issuing DLs and CDLs to illegals.

It would be nice, but I am going to pass on trusting the government to build another interstate road system. Nothing about the federal government since 1945 should inspire anyone to think they are capable of anything but stealing the public's money.

Very simple way to fix this:

When you pick up a load, the housing team must log the approved driver badge/ID. If that driver is pulled over, causes an accident, etc. (being an illegal driver) then that most recent/current housing team (or hell all of them)/are is in part liable for that driver being on the road.

No more illegal drivers.

never have seen such awful drivers as right now in the past year

in the DC area, you have the Asians driving 50 on the highway

and the gangbangers driving 90 on the highway

and the big rigs going 80
