There is already sport bet fixing on the color of the dildo. Might need to go down to high-school basketball level now.

You are right. Don't the really good players play AAU now? I believe I heard somewhere this was true. Watching athletes compete simply because they love the game is a good thing.

I am assuming something similarly shady is going on in the SEC as well. Watch the phantom and ticky tack "holds" that are always called against us and watch how many downright flagrant holds our opponents get away with. #9 was held all freaking game against Florida (they really had no choice)...it was infuriating to watch...and the only times they called it were when he was getting straight up tackled or choked and it was just so obvious that to not call it would have been incriminating.

I've been saying this to myself all year. The SEC wants what they consider marquee match ups in the championship game and in the play offs. They want an Alabama v. Georgia or Alabama v. tu etc... And they want those same teams in the play off.

I don't think they're paying off refs but I think they are "influencing them" to lean a certain way. The conferences should not be in charge of their own refs. It should be an independent organization. The fact no conference wants this should tell you why.

Amen. And if you graduated from a school in a conference, you have to officiate in another conference. No alumni should be allowed in that conference.

Lot tougher to do in football than basketball. Hell, you only gotta buy off one guy to swing a basketball game.

Agreed. But you can take off a lot of points by calling a holding here or there.

You mean like on a long run by the QB to put the visiting team up by 3 scores? Asking for a friend.

I still can't imagine how that was even allowed. The people that were doing it could have easily made bets on polymarket and cashed in.

The poker scheme is the most intriguing. It's been documented for YEARS that poker tables are completely crooked. That's why poker rooms are getting smaller and smaller. Going to be real interesting to see what Chauncey was doing. He was probably funneling in rich pro athletes to get suckered by the"pro gamblers"

Worse. They were bringing in marks to a rigged game. False shufflers, x-ray tables to read the cards, wireless devices to let everyone else at the table know who had what cards, etc.

Guess the SEC saw the writing on the wall and that's why they permanently suspended that referee from the Auburn-Georgia game.

And right after Texas joins the league. Coincidence? I think not.

They ruin everything.

THIS

After this happened my wife, who had two sons that played lots of basketball and spent an enormous time in the gym watching games, announced she was completely done watching the NBA because it is obviously rigged.

Even a woman that never played could spot it.

Total BS

Preach.

2024 season: Aggies went 9(?) games in a row with no holding penalties against an opponent.

This has been going on since its inception, IMO. When I was a child watching games on TV, I noticed how many times Mindy Rudolph, the premier ref of the game, made call after call in favor of the Boston Celtics but never against their opponents. I was a child and saw it. I thought the games were rigged back then. Despite their talented rosters, why do you think the Celtics won the championship year after year?

Same! Although back when I was growing up, it was Earl Strom!

The NBA has been a joke for competitiveness for decades now. I quit watching back when even the league's own announcers felt comfortable routinely making comments during broadcasts about how different players were officiated differently because the league knew who people were tuning in to see play. When the refs decide whether to make a call or not based on the relative profiles of the players involved, it is a sham league.

Now, there is a name from deep in my memory that would likely never have surfaced were it not for your post. I haven't watched an entire NBA game or even a single quarter of one since he was refereeing. Not because of him, but the NBA holds no interest for me. Bradley, Monroe, Reed, DeBusschere, and Frazier were still playing, lol.

I've told this story here multiple times but my great friend was the casino manager at Mirage for 15+ years. He told me to NEVER get into cash games in casinos. They had major problems with teams running tables. Tournaments are different.

You can call holding on almost every single play in college football if you called it by the rule book. If you did that, the games would take seven hours. Some is going to be let go because of that, but it's also because officiating has gone down hill.

This is the problem. It is highly unlikely SEC football games are fixed. It's just not practical. Too many moving parts to reliably do it. Same with all football really(from the refs). Pro baseball too.

But the NBA and NCAA basketball is very easy for one ref or one player to do.

It isn't that hard to do in football. There are usually a few critical plays per game where it is clear that one team or the other really needs things to go their way. All it takes is one guy throwing a flag on things that happen every play (like holding, PI, OL downfield, etc) and they can change the flow of the game. I would be kind of curious to see who has had the most scoring plays called back on penalties this year. I would be very surprised if we were not near the top.

Edit: Major league baseball had its one true dynasty, the NY Yankees. The NBA needed to have one as well, and what better city to have it than Boston, the city that hates the Yankees.

I remember my grandmother *****ing about the celtics doing this when i grew up. Nothing was ever called on bird, mchale or parrish. She hated them.
