Not sure if Sowell coined your phrase, but he is the best at arguing it.

Solution is to teach our kids math in middle school and FAIL them if they don't come up to standard. That is what Asia does.

The solution is NOT to bring in more foreigners like Dems want.

The first time I heard the phrase, "Soft bigotry of low expectations" was in a speech by George W. Bush.
People of integrity expect to be believed, when they're not, they let time prove them right.

Yeah it was W. Which was an euphemistic way of referring to paternalistic racism.

But when it comes to our public schools failing our students, that would be more colorblind. They are failing mostly across the board in educating them.

Every Democrat infantilizes black people in their speeches. Give them 10 minutes and it will come out. It is disgusting and true racism

I apologize, I guess I don't catch a lot of things, appreciate you calling me out on it. I do dumb things periodically, I once fell for a stunt MF Barnes pulled

I was the OP on the other thread and quite literally almost used that quote in my post. Brothers of another mother?

From what I've seen working in public education the last 2 1/2 years this is not going to happen in the US. There is no fail anymore. You pass children to the next grade so you avoid hurting their feeling and upsetting the parents. There is absolutely no discipline either. I work in an elementary school with a behavior unit. It is criminal what we've done to these kids in the name of false compassion.

This is shocking.
My younger one is a senior in HS so I will be out of the school mode soon.

Just last night I absolutely blasted my daughter for wasting time on Amazon at 1am when her grades are not good and she should be studying or getting sleep. I think I failed with her. Or maybe she will mature up in due course.

It is possible all this lowering of standards is a conspiracy to make Americans so useless than they can justify bring in foreigner labor "to save Americans".

My son is 4 years older than her and the kids in his batch were really good. Many went to Top 10 schools like Harvard, Berkeley, Illinois, Michigan, Northwestern, CMU. I don't think anyone from my daughter's batch will go any top school.

Ultimately I believe responsibility is with parents.

I REALLY hate hearing "Americans are too stupid, so we need to get foreigners to help us out". And then we go bring in terrorists and 3rd worlders who cannot manage their own countries.

We are not too stupid. We need to raise expectations and stop making excuses for and accepting failure.

As a father of a high school freshman and a middle schooler, I can absolutely tell you that schools (private and public) are failing across the board, not just in math.

Our boys go to a private school and I have been very disappointed in their (my boys) creative writing skills and hand writing. My high school freshman can barely write his name in cursive. I will give the school credit in math, he's in AP geometry and doing well. I'm pretty sure we can say that he won't be a report writer or journalist.
