It will also be interesting to see how Eastern Europe overall breaks, especially if the EU does in fact get toppled over the next 3-10 years. Some get it, some don't.

There is just no saving the EU/EC imho.

"Oh no, someone on TikTok is saying we should leave the EU. Fine the platform please."
The EU Gulag part II:
Quote:

What is "misinformation"? It is any fact the managers do not want you to know. What is "hate speech"? It is any opinion that challenges the managers' agenda.

In Germany, we have already seen police raiding homes and making arrests for "hateful" online posts. A German was criminally investigated for calling a fat politician "fat." A German rape victim was given a harsher sentence than her rapist because she called him a "pig" in a private, encrypted message! And, just last month, the Finnish Supreme Court heard arguments in a case going back six years in which a former Finnish MP was prosecuted for "hate speech" for posting Bible verses! This is the Digital Gulag's Article 58-10. It is the criminalisation of undesirable thought, enforced by the state's monopoly on violence.

As a result, Europe now has the dubious distinction of being the world leader in speech-related arrests. Thousands of Europeans are jailed annually by the regime for tweets. And, with new weapons like Chat Control and the ProtectEU Roadmap coming online, that number will only grow. Speech crime is only one step removed from thought crime.

But the end of truth has two phases. First, you must cut off the supply of truthful information, which you do through censorship and criminalisation. And second, you must fill the resulting void with un-truth, or what is commonly called propaganda.

Just yesterday morning, I woke to news of the Commission's new European Democracy Shield, which, at first glance, appears indistinguishable from Orwell's Ministry of Truth. The Commission proposes to set up a new monitoring centre, the European Centre for Democratic Resilience a continent-wide censorship and propaganda machine of EU funded "fact checkers" who will decide what information is "safe" for European eyes.

The EU is what America would be if we kept the articles of confederation

Listening... care to elaborate?

The way the EU operates is similar to the US did under the Articles of Confederation. Sovereign member states subject to a weak central government with a unified currency. Lots of competing agendas and "Me first" domestic policies on member states that with against the greater good (like dependence on Russian O&G, insistence on intake of "asylum seekers", etc).

Thanks.... I get it now.

Kinda, just to add

The EU is a very strong regulatory body, which through commerce has manged to go far beyond trade

The problem they have now, the individual nation states voices have been so dilluted that any dissent is just washed out. They've sold thier sovereignty. There are no cross country parties or voting blocks to reign in the left. There is no real unity

This is why I would have been in favor of Brexit, dilution of sovereignty to foreign control. No thanks

You have a leftist body backed by 28 mostly leftist countries. I dont think it's corrective until you get 18 or 20 of the countries to go right. Or if more powerful members leave.

If it had been articles of confederation the central government wouldn't have had the power to make so many national decisions, imo

Unfortunately it's too late for Europe. The once dominant continent in the world is no awash in leftism and being taken over by islam. No good culture can survive either one let alone both.

Europe has been socialist and left leaning FOREVER. Their undoing has been becoming apologetic about their history and colonialism and letting that impact their policies.

Socialism in europe is really more of a recent thing, comparatively speaking.

They were autocratic forever (tribal, Roman, fractured small kingdoms), then that morphed into a feudal system which has slowly morphed into a more socialist system. But the socialist aspect is ~100 years old whereas the autocratic and feudal systems reigned for thousands of years.

My opinion is that the EU has morphed into a semi socialist society because of their WWI and WWII guilt. Germany caused millions of deaths around the world and many of their current citizens want no part of what their great and great great grandparents did 80 years ago. They went from a hard core society to softies, letting socialism run strong within them.. many other European countries are similar, they don't want to fight wars and are softies. I used to travel to the EU for work, after seeing them for 15 years, you realize they are all soft and do what they are told. Their regulations have ruined their countries. They let over regulation ruin many of their industries, it's crazy to watch what they did to them selves when the European Union was formed. I don't know who's behind all those needless regulations but it's tearing their societies apart.

The USAID-Soros 'Open Society' push is not democratic at all, and focuses resources on an elite class of rulers, open borders, and the suppression of subjects/speech. This is what has crushed Europe over the past 40 years imho, not 'socialism' per se.

Benz and DataRepublican have a lot more on the topic.

Yes, groups like open society used the people's War guilt to push their narrative. Listening to an elite ruling class won't last that long as past history has shown, it will eventually fail if it even makes it for a while, we are close to that now though.

It will take a lot for the 'machine' of the state(s) to allow Europe to wake up.
Quote:

Censorship defines down self-government to "one person, one vote, one time." Whoever wins a national election will exploit the censorship regime to perpetuate their own power. German politicians are conniving to outlaw the second largest political party, the Alliance for Deutschland (AfD) and its ideas because elitists disapprove of its positions. But it is not the AfD's fault that Germans' trust in politicians and government has plunged in recent years.

German government funding for censorship increased five-fold since 2020. Andrew Lowenthal, the founder and CEO of Liber-net, commented, "In Germany large swathes of civil society have abandoned their traditional role as watch-dogs of power. Instead, they have joined forces with the State to suppress popular discontent." There are 330 different organizations now part of the German censorship machine. (See the excellent graphic produced by Liber-net.) As journalist Mario Nawfal wrote, "When your "fact-checkers" are on government payroll, they're not checking factsthey're enforcing narratives. The objectivity claim is window dressing. The real damage? Public trust is collapsing faster than the censorship can contain it."

The Aspen Institute Germany, founded in Berlin in 1974, is massively subsidized by the German Foreign Office (the equivalent of the U.S. State Department) to proselytize for the destruction of free speech across Europe. In December, the institute published a report: Hybrid Realities: Disinformation, Influencers, and the Defense of Democracy in Central and Eastern Europe. Here's the painfully portentous first paragraph of the Executive Summary:
Quote:

"Democracy depends on the integrity and credibility of public discourse. It functions most effectively, when citizens can exchange ideas freely, engage in respectful disagreement, and make collective choices informed by reliable information. Transparent and inclusive dialogue fosters trust between individuals and institutions, which in turn underpins the legitimacy of democratic decision-making and helps ensure that differences of opinion do not lead to societal division. Sustaining this foundation requires an information environment that upholds transparency, enables verification, and encourages responsibility in maintaining fact-based public communication."

That pious prattle sounds like "good government" gobbledy-gook but the reality is that those goals create endless penalty flags for government-subsidized referees to throw at private citizens and social media. As a New York Times article on German censorship explained in 2022, "The authorities in Germany argue that they are encouraging and defending free speech by providing a space where people can share opinions without fear of being attacked or abused." So to have the space for free speech, government officials must have unlimited power to assure that nothing improper or insulting is said.

The new German report echoes the same themes and goals as a 2022 Aspen Institute report championing censorship for the United States. That report called for the Biden administration to "establish a comprehensive strategic approach to countering disinformation and the spread of misinformation, including a centralized national response strategy, defining roles and responsibilities across the Executive Branch." It portrayed objectivity as an enemy of truth. Aspen Institute commissioners "discussed the need to adjust journalistic norms to avoid false equivalencies between lies and empirical fact in the pursuit of 'both sides' and 'objectivity,' particularly in areas of public health, civil rights, or election outcomes." The report called for creation of a "Public Restoration Fund…with a mandate to develop systemic misinformation countermeasures through education, research, and investment in local institutions."

And all of this ties right back to US efforts to do the same. CRT has the core value that "objectivity" is racist and should be discarded in favor of "truth to power" whatever the hell that means. And we have US journalists and other bigwigs who have told us that reporting the truth should not be their primary objective.

Yes, but Merz and the 'traffic light' coalition that succeeded her are not any better. Talking to them frankly and honestly just completely shocks them today.

I remain convinced it is absolutely a mistake to elect childless leaders, and especially women (or feminized men like Macron). The EU collectively has a habit of doing so. At least Merz and Starmer have kids, I will say.

The Euro's and especially Germany are morons, you should see what they have done to their own chemical industry, it used to be the world standard for countries to follow, now with over regulation and who knows what else many of their chem plants have been shuttered or mothballed, they really are total idiots. All in the guise of "green energy, carbon credits," and all kinds of other stupid stuff. Their natural gas cost is now 2 times the US cost. I have friends that sell products from EU plants and they have priced themselves out of world export markets, hell they price themselves out of their own EU markets. Not sure who is behind all this but it's like a snowball headed for hell over there.

hard to even fathom what that country has done to all their once proud backbone industries- they have pretty much ruined them.

The globalist watermelons. See Mark Rutte, current NATO Secretary, who actively tried to destroy his own countries ability to produce food. Dude literally tried to destroy his own farming industry which ultimately was one step too far and so they failed him upwards to NATO.

So the guy that tried to kill his own people via starvation is now running security for an organization that we float.
