The mission to be the over compensated bureaucratic arm of the Democrat Party?
We can only hope so!

I recently hired a former Federal worker.
It's comical when he wants comp time for working 40.5 hours in a week.
He's adapting.
I worked in the private sector before going to the state and the level of mediocrity and laziness never ceased to amaze me. When I got into management things changed very quickly. Turnover worried my superiors until, after a little while, they saw productivity exceed other offices.
If only all offices in all agencies worked this way.
Even private sector in many places don't work that way. I saw places where they hired 100 people (many mediocre) to do projects that 10 good smart people would do. But VPs like to have big teams (empire building) because it makes them feel important.
I don't know in what magical land some of the people here work, but I spent 25 years in the private sector before spending the last 6 in the Federal workforce. There are just as many lazy, work averse, manipulators of the system, jerks in the private sector as the public sector. In fact, in my very limited, anecdotal experience, more.

Totally true, BUT in the private sector those losers can be purged...not so much in FedGov

We could easily get by with eliminating 3/4 of all levels of Gov Employees in admin roles. DMV - 8 people on lunch break while 2 people working. Having had many dealings with the SEC and FINRA I can tell you where those who graduate last in their law class find employment.

Good point.
On top of that, it justifies their salary because they "run a large group." I thought that (unnecessarily large teams) only happened in the public sector. I guess greed and laziness is all around.

So 1/3 of them were required to come in and work day in and day out without pay knowing that 2/3 were sitting at home on a 43 day long vacation. All of whom would receive the exact same back pay within a few days of it all ending.
That sounds like a recipe for excellent morale.
LOL, they just called in sick. Did you see the airport lines? Oh, and they will get paid. So, not without pay. With deferred pay. Big difference.
So use up your limited sick time or work for deferred dollars that others will get for doing nothing?
Yup, sounds like a fantastic way to improve the morale of the IMPORTANT employees.
I'm sure all 5 of them are fine.
ICE agents aren't important?
Border Patrol agents aren't important?
Guards at Federal Penitentiaries aren't important?
ICU nurses treating former Aggies at VA's aren't important?
Park Rangers in Yellowstone stopping idiots from jumping in Old Faithful aren't important?
Interesting take.

I've gotten rid of a few.

There were no Doge cuts in my department. It was easier getting rid of people in my current position than in the private sector.

Want to experience low morale. Come work in law enforcement in a blue city/blue county.
Only reason I'm hanging on because of the pension and hell of medical benefits for my wife and I.
Lt has a sign on her office door that reads, The beatings will continue until morale improves
I can't even imagine.

That also depends on the state you're in. Some states definitely are ridiculous....I'm looking at you Minnesota. Texas....at will state? <3
