Don't care one way or the other: they both gleefully voted for soft on crime policies because their overpriced education told them to do so.

Well, that should be the end of that relationship.
At best he's a narcissist.

I honestly can't comprehend stepping away and hiding while a woman is being attacked. Much less my wife or someone I love. This is such a foreign reaction to me that my brain can't make sense of it.

This is a perfect description.
Women voted for this, but don't really want it.
They want to have their cake and eat it too.
In some respects, I can kind of sympathize with some of them. For a vast portion of the female population, women were told that they had to find their self-worth in a combination of being both career and family oriented at the same time, a balance that is impossible to find and still keep your sanity.
Asking a man to be driven primarily by empathy and still have the ability to make cold, rational decisions is a recipe for disaster, but that is exactly what women want, as long as you also have a beautiful six-pack, are a super-rich neuro-surgeon, and can usually make home in time to help with the dishes.
Not that being a 100% jock thug is a good look, either. I'm pretty sure that there are zero decent women that want to have a relationship with the mugger.
But real men need to be meek. The Arameic term for meek (makikhe) is not a weakling, it's a man that is very good with a sword, always carries a sword, but never uses it. So, meek, as in, very dangerous, but also very judicious about when to be physically or rationally violent. The Greek word praus also denotes the same thing.

Can any gay F16 posters back me up here? I'm not being homophobic or any of that ****; I'm merely trying to explain my perception to help those who've commented that they can't imagine a guy not rushing to a woman's aid. Well, ever since masculinity was deemed toxic, the resulting product is this, which we'll call Exhibit A.

The attacker knew he had it easy when he saw the fanny pack across the dude's chest. Your appearance matters.
