This has got some spicy takes…

And the WH is standing behind her…

Says a lot.

Specifically how much power Wiles has.

Meh, she is not known as a loose cannon but she also is not known to mince words. If she spoke candidly, as it appears she did, then they should provide the context if those quotes are legitimate.

But this feels like all the other hit pieces from Trump 1.0 and so far in Trump 2.0.

More yawn.

1) As for an alcoholic personality, it takes one to know one.

2) If the WH chief of staff gave 11 interviews and didn't see this coming, she is a little naive.

Anyways, Wiles fan here.

The utter visceral screaming from the underbelly of Washington DC, the very morning of Trump's first inauguration and before he even had a chance to do anything as POTUS, told me everything I needed to know.

This is maybe the 11,028th time my conclusion has been supported.

I guess the Hegseth, Patel, and Noem pinatas are in the shop getting repaired so now it's on to Susie? Must be a slow day on the talking points distribution.

You know her father was a severe, I mean very severe, alcoholic. So maybe she knows a bit about it.

It doesn't take one to know one, I think growing up with an alcoholic father qualified her to make that statement.

Yep

Same here. I don't drink and never have. My dad was once really drunk, got mad and kicked me in the gut. I was in the 8th grade. Also in the 8th grade, I put him, a black belt in kung fu, in the hospital.

I know all about alcoholic behavior.

If you read the entire write-up, her comments are nearly as bad as they make her sound.

Shocker...I know.

She makes some criticism, but then explains the context.

Fwiw- I dont know the innerworkings, and all the likely ramifications that she does...but I wholeheartedly disagree with her about USAID, as do most people. Call me irrational if she must, but I'd like to see a whole lot more of that.

From what I know of her, I like her. She seems very no-nonsense.

My bar is simple...

Are any of the people in this administration better than what would have been in place had Kamala been president. The answer for me is yes so DGAF about any of this noise.

Trump who doesn't drink has "an alcoholic's personality"

Comments were surprising, eye opening, and attention grabbing. Almost as if that was the goal of the interview…

She doesn't seem like a person that makes the type of incredibly dumb rookie mistakes that characterize Kash Patel or Pete Hegseth or Pam Bondi.

So you do have to wonder what she is intending by giving out this information.

Alcoholics tend to be impulsive, sensitive, insecure, and easily aggravated. This is likely what she is describing.

now every single Cabinet Member has come out with their own public Twitter statement praising Susie Wiles-

coincidentally within a few minutes of each other.

seriously what is happening here?!?!

Why are Trump Administration officials talking with Vanity Fair for a year and having their photos taken like they are a Hollywood movie star?!?!

no it's not.

I read the entire article.

she was discussing people with "overly large personalities" when they drink, that it magnifies their essential personality.

she actually was quoted with context.

Because they are all grifting fame-balls, no better than your average desperate-to-be-famous influencer.

"No rational person could think the USAID process was a good one. Nobody."

Guess I'm not rational.

The USAID "process" was very entertaining and the Musk strategy was exactly what was needed otherwise USAID would still be corrupting the planet with it's presence.

I agree

none of her points were that bad when you read the entire article

the PROBLEM is that she was spending time with a leftist hack party operative writing for Vanity Fair.

it is just shocking the missteps of Trump the past 48 hours when things had been going so much better than the first Administration!

why is ANYONE from the executive branch talking with a VANITY FAIR REPORTER?!?

much less during work hours from the White House, and for an entire year!!

and you can read Wiles direct quotes- she disagreed on shutting down USAID, and on deporting so many illegals, and on tariffs...and of course they took a shot at "Israel" as well.

Yep.

But as this thread demonstrates....most people just react to the dramatized snippets and not the actual/contextual intent.

Trump is a tee-totaler. His brother died of alcoholism.

So what does she mean by having "an alcoholic's personality"?

Incredible amount of trust and access given to Vanity Fair. I truly hope the administration expected this outcome because it is hard to comprehend that they would go along with this and expect a fluff piece.

They were first to notice Trump, a relatively large dude, having small hands.

I wonder how TF they got access, at all.

" She attributes her ability to work for Mr. Trump to growing up with an alcoholic father, the sportscaster Pat Summerall. "High-functioning alcoholics or alcoholics in general, their personalities are exaggerated when they drink," she said. "And so I'm a little bit of an expert in big personalities." While Mr. Trump does not drink, she said he has "an alcoholic's personality" and operates with "a view that there's nothing he can't do. Nothing, zero, nothing.""

Like most things, I'm sure the truth is somewhere in between her saying a little too much and a news outlet taking her out of context and misconstruing.

About Epstein

In the interviews published by Vanity Fair, Ms. Wiles faulted Ms. Bondi, one of her closest friends in the administration, for her early handling of the Epstein files, an issue that has been a cause clbre for Mr. Trump's right-wing base.

"I think she completely whiffed on appreciating that that was the very targeted group that cared about this," Ms. Wiles said. "First, she gave them binders full of nothingness. And then she said that the witness list, or the client list, was on her desk. There is no client list, and it sure as hell wasn't on her desk." Mr. Vance, by contrast, understood the sensitivity because he himself was "a conspiracy theorist," she said.

Ms. Wiles said she has read the Epstein documents and acknowledged that Mr. Trump's name is in them. "We know he's in the file," she said. "And he's not in the file doing anything awful."
But neither, apparently, is Mr. Clinton. Asked about Mr. Trump's claims going back years that Mr. Clinton had visited the Epstein island, Ms. Wiles said, "There is no evidence." Asked if there was anything incriminating about Mr. Clinton in the files, as Mr. Trump has suggested, she said, "The president was wrong about that."
