Army bases renaming

The 2021 National Defense Authorization Act, passed Congress survived President Trump's veto, and became Public Law 116-283 on January 1, 2021. That's the law that created the Naming Commission and required renaming bases with Confederate ties.

Legislative History Passed by the House (33578) and Senate (8413) in December 2020, the bill faced a veto on December 23, 2020, primarily due to disputes over Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act and the renaming of Confederate bases. The House voted 32287 on December 28, 2020, and the Senate voted 8113 on January 1, 2021.

So it wasn't just Dims that passed the bill, overrode a veto, and passed it again with the confederacy commission.



Kennedy center

Public Law 88-260 from 1964, renamed the National Cultural Center the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and made it the sole national memorial to JFK.

Because Congress set the name by statute, only another act of Congress can change it. The board of trustees doesn't have authority to rename the institution itself.

Trump has earned the right to have his name on it.

Let the Dems keep pushing. He can have it condemned and demolished over a weekend.

This is not a very expensive law suit at this point. Researching, writing and filing the brief is very quick for anybody that practices law in this area

there are plenty of attorneys that would do this at a reduced rate for a chance to be involved in a high profile case.

If the ruling is appealed the original attorney might have another 10 hrs to prepare that and more than likely a significant number of Amicus Briefs will be filed in support of the plaintiff which does not incur costs to the plaintiff

Even if it took 50 hours there are attorneys would do it for much less than their standard rate

Most motions etcetera are cut and paste and if you do it professionally you have the template and it can crank that stuff out very quickly

Regardless cost is not going to be an issue Their are deep pockets that would write a check and attys that would do it at below their standard rate that would prefer The Kennedy center remain the Kennedy Center

If memory serves, the Kennedy Center had major structural problems during construction that required correction before opening.

Also, it has been subject to demolition by neglect.

I mean the damn Lincoln Memorial required over a hundred columns sunk to the bedrock in order to support it and it has still had some issues. In fact, a goal of the work in the undercroft adding the visitor center is also going to expose this engineering marvel to the public for the first time.

Our infamous reflecting pool had sunk over a foot into the marsh. And lots of people forget about the rather substantial quake just 15 years ago that damaged many of these structures as shaking marshland is no bueno.

Knock it down and but a historical marker denoting the center could not be saved because a lib congress critter and a corrupt judge prevented the necessary repairs cause… Trump.
