I hadn't seen this posted.

Black 18 year old student stabs white 16 year old to death on campus.

Seen some reports suspect had a really bad track record of bringing knives to school and sexual assault. Maybe had mental health issues and was licking blood off his hands during the incident.

White kid may have been bullying him.

Haven't seen the racial aspect discussed much.

Parents feel school was indifferent to the death. Students protested the school.

I would take the talk about the white kid bullying the stabber with a grain of salt until proof of that is shown. This seems similar to the stabbing at the track meet last year where the suspect side tries to paint the dead kid as the aggressor when only one of the two boys showed up at a HS track meet carrying a big ass knife.

Even if bullying was present, that is normal despite being unpleasant. Highschoolers stabbing one another to death is not normal.

Societal rot. Eroding and encouraging abhorrent behavior that leads to murder.

The kids know.
25 or so protested that nothing was ever done to the student stabber and he was always put back in class.
Even if you have the hardest ass principal and school board, those messed up kids have IEPs and discipline plans that are so very liberal and tie the hands of the school and give kids ticket to do as they please. Schools are afraid of the Feds.

I was a Sterling grad and know some teachers and administrators there. Couple of rumors floating around. One of the consistent ones is the killer stole a vape from the kid and ran off with it. He ducks into an empty classroom where the victim follows him in and a fight ensues. Supposedly the killer was seen walking out licking blood off his fingers. All of that is unconfirmed, of course. Whether there was any more to the story is yet to seen. The clear thing, at this point, is that the killer had no business being in school there after a long history of offenses including multiple suspensions over bringing knives to school, fighting, and sexual misconduct. Community is pretty fired up about it and rightfully so.

So typical. Liberals are all about giving second, third chances.
Their ideas have ruined schools and universities.
Of course rich liberals send their kids to private schools, but really feel smug about helping the downtrodden to wreak havoc because they don't have to deal with it.

Has it gone to trial yet?

Much like the death penalty thread... These trials drag out WAY too long. That kid should be well into his sentence by now.

It would be great if we could some day stop making everything about race even if there's no indication that it was driven by race issues.

It seems like the issue the article raised is pretty interesting though. The school just kept going like nothing even happened, making kids walk right by the crime scene where their classmate was murdered, to go take a test right after.

That shows better than anything how accustomed we have become with violence, particularly in schools.

In their defense, they didn't know yet that he died, and might not have known it was that serious, but he was taken in a helicopter. They should have.

No doubt as to his guilt, should be executed immediately. Intentionally take a life, you lose your own. Don't care if he was mentally ill, might work to his advantage. They can always tell him they are strapping him to the gurney so that he doesn't fall off in his sleep.

Looking at his rap sheet in those screenshots is confusing to me. Back when I was in school if you did several of the things on that list even once (assaulting a teacher, sexual assault, etc) you would be sent to a different campus indefinitely (called AEPs then not sure what they are called now).

I don't understand how he only was suspended for one day for assaulting a teacher. Thats crazy.

Well that was a roller coaster. First - there may be no doubt, but we have process for determining that - a trial.

And we can't know if that trial was conducted properly without allowing appeals. We should expedite that trial and appeals process significantly compared to how it is now though.

But the idea of executing people so mentally ill that they don't understand they are being executed is damned dark. I can't even get in the right headspace to go into an explanation, but most non-psychopaths understand why.

Don't know if so anymore, I have been out for years. But back in my day, school fought to not have kid labeled as emotionally disturbed, because that gave the kid all the outs (excuses)that special ed seems to give kids. One kid is under that umbrella, look out!
I inherited a kid from the Jr hi (he was passed) that was ED. I went through the steps, ISS, suspensions, (you can't expell any kid anymore) , then proceeded to ask he be placed in alternative school. We co-opted our Sped and those diags drug their feet and fought me, quoting law etc. I dug in for safety of students, and finally got a hearing to place him, and head sped director asked me a "when did you quit beating your wife" question- ""you do know he will probally never come back to your campus, and will drop out of school don't you "? Thinking I would back down in sympathy and also make me worry about a dropout on my state accountibility. We got it done, they were unhappy but my school was happy!
Too many laws made by bleeding heart liberals who don't even know what goes on in classroom or on campus.

Wife and I are both Sterling grads. Wife taught there (just started at BH this year thankfully) and this is what she's hearing too.
