I can guaradamntee you she will change the levels of testing and physical training for incoming and existing firefighters. The most important thing to a firefighter responding to a call is the ability to trust your fellow firefighters to have your back. Firefighting takes a team that works together. No weak links.

From what you are saying I am going to assume that Commissioners are not actually in charge of Fire Fighting and the Fire Chief hopefully knows how to do that.

But, I also will have to assume that a Fire Chief has to answer to and listen to the Fire Commissioner. So I expect lots of DEI BS coming from this lezbo. Hiring Fire Fighters in Wheelchairs etc. Training courses in LGBTQ+ BS etc. Perhaps spending Fire Dept Money on all sort of nonsense other than actually preventing and/or putting out fires. I am going to guess that an electric fire truck will work as well as all those electric school busses are working.

Seen this crap before. It does not work and the Fire Dept will be a basket case in 5 years.

According to public data, 80% of the FD calls are EMS related. She has served in the NYFD for 30+ years and led ALL EMS operations.

This does not seem that crazy but of course the headline is all you need to rage bait.

Firefighters are cross trained to also perform limited EMS. That training does not work the opposite way.

Paramedics are not trained to do stomp tests on a LDH at a fire scene nor how to run hose, connect to hydrants, nor to on-board tanks, whether water or foam.

Much much easier to get certified for EMS than to go to and pass a fire academy then successfully complete probation. Every promotion requires passing a written knowledge test for a reason.
