Taking a page from Russia's 2021/2022 playbook? Guess we'll see… Could get extra interesting considering that Russia recently announced that they would provide support for any Chinese invasion of Taiwan. 2026 should be fun from the jump.

Frankly, not worried about Russian support. Their equipment is not up to par and they are running out of everything. They may very well be winning the war in Ukraine but it has cost them a huge amount of equipment and personnel. They have been buying from Iran and North Korea for their own war...they cannot help China that much.

Now, China is a danger on its own. I wonder what Trump would do? Aid Taiwan? Go to war? Japan wouldn't want to see it happen nor would Vietnam, the Philippines or other regional allies (wouldn't want to see Taiwan fall).

They're a year or so late. Biden is no longer in office.

The world needs to protect TSMC!

Russian naval and air assets could still prove to be a pain in the butt should we choose a course other than leaving Taiwan for dead.

The big threat from Russia is providing natural resources like oil. China is still too dependent on other oil sources that flow through the Strait of Malacca, which is like 2 miles wide. They won't move against Taiwan until they have mitigated that issue. A blockade would be far too easy.

All of this is coming from Chinese state media. It reminds me of the people on the street falling dead on the streets due to COVID, them posting videos of them spraying the streets with some sort of disinfectant chemical, welding people in their houses "to protect them".

And it was not leaked by people on the ships, but by the CCP themselves similar to the COVID propaganda videos.

I think they are testing to see what Trump's response will be.

Very much like how Russia tested Biden. They moved all the assets for the invasion into place under the pretext of "exercises" and when they saw that the response was weak, they initiated the invasion.

Trump may get his chance to prove who will and won't do what while he's president. Hopefully it doesn't come down to that, and this passes uneventfully like prior exercises.

I have a feeling we will get some Truth Social fingers here shortly. It's not like he's passed out on Rehobath beach for 6 weeks at a time like Sleepy Joe.

We are pushing up against Xi's prior statement that he would take Taiwan in the near future. If he's sticking to that proclamation, then we are getting close to nut cutting time on that.

And this was always going to pull Japan into the mix so it's fortuitous that they have elected a leader who sounds like she won't pull any punches.

Contrary to Ukraine, I'm for supporting Taiwan because we have actual strategic interests there.

2027 is the year where **** is expected to pop off, and that's consistently been what I've been told in briefs since about 2022. We will absolutely be a part of it, coming to Taiwan and Japan's aid. The re-militarization of Japan is essential. It will be a bloodbath, esp in Taiwan.

2034 written by Admiral James Stavridis (Ret) is a terrifying, but great read, and appears to be 7 years behind schedule.

Let China know that one of our first actions would be to completely sever all trade with them AND any country that trades with them.

Yes, we have the most powerful military in the world.

But, we also have the most powerful ECONOMY in the world.

We could destroy their economy. It would probably cause a recession in the US, though. But, we can weather the storm. They can't. Who are they going to sell their useless **** to? Russia? N Korea?

If china wants Taiwan, I think we just need to realize and understand there's really very little we can do about it.

Militarily, probably. Although I think invasion of Taiwan will be much harder than China thinks.

But, ECONOMICALLY, we could really hurt them.

When Russia invaded Ukraine, everyone dumped sanctions on them. Do the same to China. They are much more susceptible to sanctions than Russia.

Just take away Amazon and Walmart and see if that gets their attention.

That could even be preemptive step to let them know we're serious...

Small nuance but 2027 isn't necessarily the year conflict kicks off. It was the date Winnie the xi gave to the PLA to be prepared militarily to take Taiwan by force.

The people of Taiwan wont fight for it

There was a man on the street interview a few years ago where people we asked if they would fight to keep independence from China

The repeated refrain was something like "we prefer to maintain the status quo"

You are wrong. They hate the communists with a passion.

That answer doesn't jive with the question. Of course he would rather maintain the status quo. The status quo is that they are a free country not oppressed by China and most people would rather avoid war, if they possibly can.

This would be a devastating blow to Meta to lose out on the TEMU ads and the ads for companies that sell print/manufacture on demand junk.
