I'd wager a lot of the guys leaving the state actually voted for that.

Over mult years you have (what seems) a far greater number of ppl leave Ca than move to Ca. However, their housing prices stay sky high. Who is buying all the properties keeping those inflated prices so high? You would expect that housing prices fall with all the inventory… what am I missing?
Immigrants keep coming. Population continues to grow but at a snail's pace compared to Tx, It's almost at a standstill now.
There is no more land in the populated coastal metros that is feasibly developable for housing unless home redevelopment construction goes full high-density - which it is in my area of LA county; albeit at a slow slow pace. IOW, the available inventory in the places people desire to live is still somewhat scarce. Pols say they want affordable housing and at the same time setup every conceivable disincentive to build. You can buy a home in (depopulating) Barstow or Needles for a song & dance...
I'm 10 mins from the beach and 1 1/2 hrs from the mountains and the desert...I can enjoy all the vacationing i want in my own backyard. Aside from all the obvious bull****, it's still a great place to live and the market reflects it.
