I own an independent used truck dealership in Dallas. I'd say around 30% if my business is dealing with the Somalian population, mostly from Minnesota.

I also do tons of business with Ethiopians, Eritreans, and Kenyans. Ask me anything!

Not really. Like I said earlier, every single Somalian is vetted through an independent lender. Their reviews are pretty strict and a lot like buying a home in most cases.

I don't think I'll lose much business because for some reason I became the go to guy for East Africans, not just Somalians.

Every single customer is financed through an outside financing source. They look at last 6 months of bank statements, verify job history, last two years tax returns, etc.

These are not cars, they are class 8 heavy duty commercial tractors used to transport good all across the country.

We use about 10-12 different banks. I also vet them before I send them in for financing. If I get even a whiff of fraud or fraudulent bank statements, 1099s, tax returns, they get booted immediately.

It's only happened 2-3 times in the last 5 years.

Probably not. Remember the 80/20 rule. The fraud we're learning about right now is almost certainly the 20 while eyetest deals with the 80. It's similar to the saying that not all Muslims are terrorists but all terrorists are Muslims. Not all Somali immigrants are thieves.

Yes, for the most part. They all fill out credit applications and I haven't came across one yet that wasn't employed.

99% of these guys haul for trucking companies and spend months in their trucks at a time working and saving up money to buy their own and start their own trucking company.

Why are Somalians or whatever buying used trucks in Dallas 1100 miles away from their hometown/state.?

Are you actually verifying their documents or just taking it at face value?

I do real estate and there is a lot of fake documents that get sent to me and I have to research and look into it.
