Remember, most of these people aren't smart enough to understand that the politicians and policies that they VOTED for are the very things making their home states unattractive. They will go to a red state (most likely) and vote for the same trash.

This is not good for TX. I'd prefer they stay out there and enjoy what they vote for. We are full up in here. No room left.

I've been pleasantly surprised with most of the California transplants. They're pretty conservative.

Why are they moving out of CA though? Curious as I plan to move IN to CA this year.

Good Lord. Why are you moving to Californication?

I talked about it in an earlier post.
Better weather, better job opportunities, closer to where my kid will be in the future, better social circle (lots of old friends there), lots of outdoor stuff to do, sick of my current city having lived here over 2 decades.

I am not surprised that California comes in last again in the U Haul growth index. I am originally from Fremont, California, and I have noticed the continuing decline of California. I moved to Texas in August 2013, and I have stayed in Texas, even after graduating from Texas A&M in May 2017. My parents encouraged me to move to Texas because they knew that if I had stayed in California, I would be paying a higher cost of living for a lower quality of life. I still visit my parents 2 or 3 times per year.

I'm in high tech. My HQ was located in the Bay area (east bay). About 12 years ago, they asked me to move there. I said I'd resign before doing that. I said only a fool would move to Cali. They said ok, stay where you are then. If you are worth your salt, you don't have to move to the bay area for an opportunity.

That's awesome.

I am curious, what were your reasons for not moving there?

If you're a super conservative homebody whose wallet is stretched, California probably isn't for you. The amenities in California for those that are active are frankly second to none. I think for all of the cultural and personal reasons you mentioned, you'll probably be very happy here and won't look back. Don't let a bunch of TexAgs strangers who haven't been to CA in years tell you what its really like to live here. You know what you're signing up for and if its your jam, I'll see you at monthly transgendered communist mixer when you get here.

Not for Larry Page, either

Google cofounder Larry Page is cutting ties with California.
A source said Page had already left the state.

He has incorporated several of his business ventures in Delaware, as well as some in Florida.

Billionaire Larry Page is peacing out of California.

The Google cofounder has cut ties between California and many of his assets that risked exposing him to a proposed new wealth tax in the state, meeting an end-of-2025 deadline, according to filings reviewed by Business Insider.
