This was actually a pretty nuanced case.
McD knew it was serving coffee that was hot enough to injure people, and too hot to consume, but they chose to keep it that hot anyways in order to keep the coffee fresher / longer.
The situation where someone spills coffee in their lap and gets 2nd or 3rd degree burns was actually contemplated, and McD chose to ignore it.
When coffee should be served at between 150 - 170 degrees, and McD chooses to serve it at 190 degrees ignoring customer safety, maybe you really do have an issue.
