My take is that the continued focus on Jan 6th is primarily a fundraising issue. It's pandering to the base.

No one thinks that moderate voters are going to be swayed by this after the Trump assassination attempt.

But, I guarantee you it brings in a lot of great checks.

progressivist activists can protest anything and everything any day all they want to include looting, rioting, assault, and trespassing for any cause they dream up... but the one time the other side that never does anything protests in front of the capitol on the day they were certifying an election that was obviously ****ed up six ways from Sunday, and killed zero cops in doing so, it was more dangerous than 9/11 and Pearl Harbor and we almost lost "our democracy".

that's ritaarded. stop being ritaarded.

The Senate didn't convict Trump for January 6th because manyRepublicans truly thought he wouldn't run again. I know McConnell, Lankford, Tillis, Rubio, Graham, Portman, Ernst, etc. come to mind as votes that could have been whipped if a few more GOP leaders stood up. Perhaps they thought the courts would work faster than they did....locking Trump up. They couldn't fathom that Trump would be re-elected.....again.

During the '24 election, the amount of lies and scare tactics were extreme. Trump tanking immigration reform, proclaiming "they are eating dogs and cats" (a lie), villainizing/endangering LBTQ (criminal), the CONSTANT scary anti-trans commercials, etc. The Butler event was incredibly pro-Trump vote getting event. It's one of the reasons I truly do not believe it was a Democratic operation. Instead either a lone freak kid or one of those crazy conspiracies floating around about Trump staging it. Not sure we will ever truly know.

Many voters are transactional and distrust both parties. Trump told them what they wanted to hear--"lower taxes", "release the Epstein files," "lower costs on day one" "no-more wars" and "free IVF". Many of those voters were hoodwinked and they know it..now. Plus, there was the oddity of Biden handicapping the Dems by not running again and let the nomination process work itself out. On top of that, Covid made us all crazy. It was a FREAKING WILD SURREAL election.

To say the '24 election proves the irrelevance of January 6th ignores everything else that occurred.

The only reason Trump works so hard to literally destroy the evidence, fabricate nonsense and punish/threaten anyone who speaks the truth is .......he knows what he did was seditious and criminal. He'd be in jail if he didn't get re-elected. That's why Trump pulled out all the lies, hate, and shadiness to get elected.

I saw January 6th live. You did too. The Republican Senators who know better spoke out against it....before the Trump machine threatened them all. You may cling to a thread of a false narratives to prove your point. But you are ignoring a mountain of plain speaking truth to live in your reality.

Trump is a stain on our American experience. Not sure we will survive him.

If anyone is a stain on America, it's any living, breathing liberal / democrat. They are complete scum of the earth.

"surviving" trump is easy. Surviving the deranged and delusional democrat response to trump is the difficult part.

The Capitol protest on 1/6/21 was a protest that turned into a riot - chaotic, unlawful, and deserving of prosecutions for the people who committed crimes. But pretending it was an organized attempt to overthrow the U.S. government orchestrated by Trump is just silly. An insurrection requires planning, leadership, coordination, and a realistic path to seizing power. None of that existed. A disorganized mob breaking windows and wandering the Capitol is not a coup, and insisting it was makes you impossible to take seriously.

Agreed with this. It also is probably the most glaring example of the hypocrisy of both parties. Democrats like DCAg who were silent while their party rioted and destroyed cities across the country over the death of a drugged up criminal were suddenly up in arms about property destruction. But sadly the opposite that was true for a lot of republicans who didn't care that a few hundred losers broke into the capital and destroyed property.

Either way it definitely wasn't an "insurrection." It was a riot (something the Dems are basically experts on at this point), nothing more than that.

And that's where you are wrong. Virtually every sane person I know agrees people who destroyed property or committed other crimes (besides criminal trespass) should have been prosecuted. But the Biden DOJ overreached so far on virtually everyone who even looked at the capitol that day, that most of them now don't give one thought it.

Remind us again how the dems were all up in arms when the "occupy protesters" sat in the senate building and disrupted official government proceedings and nothing happened to them?

The US Capitol protest on 1/6/21 was a protest that turned into a riot, and the people who assaulted police officers and committed other crimes deserved jail time. But claiming that Trump organized an attempt to overthrow the U.S. government is ridiculous. This was a disorganized mob of a few hundred lunatics breaking into the US Capitol and destroying property. Yet, the Democrats stayed silent during the riots to create lawlessness, chaos, and anarchy in cities across the country over career criminal George Floyd's death in summer 2020. They have been calling for riots over ICE's killing of Renne Nicole Good, who hit the ICE agent before he shot her.
