mistake? - meh saved a mass shooting

Fortunately thats now how our Constitution works. The guy was a moron, but still has right to legally carry. Dumb to resist while carrying, but if not reaching for it, shouldnt get shot. Cops make mistakes.

What is the leftist media angle for pushing this video? All I see is someone who has been interfering with federal law enforcement at least two weeks before he died. He was likely inserting him in scuffles all week. They have to think this helps his case but how? To me is countercurrent to his Va angel nurse narrative they have been trying to push

My hypothesis:

"The gun was present then, and no one killed him…"

I suspect that is the argument that will be made…

Kinda close, "he never drew his gun while getting his ass beat, so it couldn't have happened the second time he got his ass beat."

Nope. Not as he did. Thankfully, he can't be a danger again.

Much longer clip. Altercation happens around 16:50.

This man was NOT a protestor.

What a POS. I'd still defend ICE if they shot him just for spitting on them. He should have been arrested and got his ass beat this day.

Yeah, they're in desperation mode. My wording was meant to make the progressive morons that do to think about what they're arguing about. It's a delusion. Wild times ol boy!

A video that shows Alex Pretti getting in a scuffle with federal agents 11 days before his death proves that he was an agitator, not a peaceful protestor or observer. If those agents had arrested him that day, he probably would have been released from jail the next day. Pretti clearly did not learn to stay away from law enforcement officers. This is the consequence of responding to Governor Tim Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey's call to attack ICE agents, vandalize hotels they stay at, and loot their vehicles.

My opinion it was only a matter of time before a guy that unhinged did unholster his pistol and take a shot at an officer. He was down for the cause big time.

Sick of this bull**** narrative that the most American thing you can do is go to and participate in a protest. That's not what has made America the greatest country. Being an American is working hard, raising a family, giving back to your community through faith, being independent and self reliant, and standing up to foreign aggressors. That's what built us. That's what made us great.

Why didn't they arrest him for breaking the taillight?

Did they not notice he had a gun on him? He just committed a crime and was carrying a weapon. I don't get it.

Protesting is fine. And is American, as it shows that even if you're against the govt, you can voice that opinion.

He wasn't protesting, so....

Agree. But looking at it through the lens of Marxism like Tim and his ilk, protest and revolution and violence are what leads to the red road of communism which is their vision for America

As been mentioned multiple times they're federal agents and they're here to enforce federal law to deport illegal aliens.

Could they have arrested him...sure but if they get bogged down arresting every Tom, Dick, and Harry spitting and interfering with them they'd never have any time for the job they're supposed to be doing.

This is where the MPD needs to be in lock step with ICE taking out the trash each time these "protesters" get out of line. It's why you don't hear of many incidents in red states...the "protesters" quickly learn when they interfere and agitate with ICE they're quickly arrested, handcuffed and processed.

Squinting really hard at that new video looking for the woman he was white knighting for as we were led to believe from our friends across the aisle he always does at his "protests". I was told that on the day he got himself killed that all he was doing was minding his own business and jumped in to save that poor, innocent lady the Feds were roughing up.

Is this really any different than those on the right characterizing every undocumented roofer/construction laborer, farm laborer, gardener, cook, cleaning lady, etc., many who have been here for years and are contributing to the economy btw, as rapists, thugs, murderers, or escapees from a mental institution?

I've noted it before, and will likely need to repeat it again, but both sides engage in vilification of the opposition to promote whatever narrative they align with. It's how those in power, on both the left and the right, shape the narrative to their respective constituencies in order to manipulate the masses to do their bidding.

Was Pretti a saint? Clearly not. Was he a hero? To some, perhaps. What really matters is was he operating within his protected rights, and if he stepped out of bounds, should the degree of his perceived offenses merit the loss of his life?

To my eyes, the heart of the question is the nature and degree of whatever "mandate" the people wanted when they elected this administration. Did the majority of those who voted for Trump this go round want every single undocumented person, regardless of whatever contributions they may be making to their local communities forcefully removed? Or was it a smaller goal of only desiring to eliminate the hardened criminals, gangbangers, human traffickers, drug runners, and "bad hombres" along with reforms to ensure that illegals were not able to fraudulently take advantage of our social welfare programs? If the latter, this heavy-handed approach is what is causing the pushback, as enforcing the former would look a whole lot different than what we are seeing played out on our screens right now.

The hyper-polarization of our politics is, in my opinion, doing more damage than anything else, as it allows the "tough guys" on both sides to engage in petty bravado and leaving a lot of folks traumatized in the aftermath.

Apologies if this was already posted, but if so I didn't see it. Here shipwreckedcrew provides an extensive analysis of the events leading to the death of Pretti from the POV of prosecutorial discretion. I'm an engineer, not a lawyer, so I thoroughly appreciated the plain language explanations and exacting details that are pertinent to the case.

If you are truly seeking to understand the legal aspects of the shooting, I would highly recommend.
