Reports that this happened on a small scale a week ago. People's banks were hacked and their SIMs were swapped with one another to prevent changing passwords through two factor authentication. Hopefully that's not happening here.

Phone doesn't even show SOS mode anymore.

There was a Dilbert cartoon where Dogbert tech support requires the customer to send an email to notify him that the network is down.

According to Downdetector, yes, but DD uses public submitted reports.

But it is possible that the reports of the other two are erroneous, with people reporting they can't contact people on AT&T and T-Mobile, but the real reason is their Verizon phone is dead.

Everyone at my office who is on Verizon is out. T-Mobile and AT&T are fine.

Wifi calling doesn't work either because Verizon says the phone isn't registered to their network.
