We're gonna end up in a pre video era because no one will be able to believe anything they don't see with their own eyes.
The thing about this that really scares me (and I've already seen examples of it) are the realistic videos and photos of historical events that are either completely falsified or revisionist.
Think about the ramifications of THAT for a bit.
There's a new AI video model blowing up on Chinese social media.

It's called Seedance 2. We don't have access in the U.S. yet, but you can find clips on Chinese social media.
The creator of this video (wildpusa) said the model reminds them of when photography was born 👇 pic.twitter.com/Z5RsOz9gLh

You gotta hand it to the ChiComs, this is good stuff. Imagine what it would look like with top of the line Nvidia chips.
I think maybe we're getting closer to AI video that is so realistic you can't tell it's AI. And I think we're getting there faster than many people thought we would.

Odd - the model half way through leans over to paint and lost his right arm. Very realistic though.

There will have to be a way to validate what is real vs what is fake. Some people suspect blockchain/personal tokens/Identifiers and/or legislation will be the answer, but nobody knows.
Hey maybe to prove who you are you'll need a special form of ID in order to buy or trade things! What could go wrong?

The issue is just like doctored photographs, for now.
If you look at the actual 0s and 1s, a specialist can point out real versus doctored photos. The people doctoring photos try to get more sophisticated, but the specialist get more sophisticated just as quickly.
that's definitely coming. Philip K. Dick is rolling in his grave right now at all thisRubicante said:
I think we're within 10 years of a lot of video evidence being challenged in court, unless there is some sort of camera system developed that has embedded a way to guarantee all video captured/produced by it is legitimate.

Court is one thing where the actual truth of a doctored photo or video may come out.
But in the court of public opinion the first impression of the lie of an AI photo, audio, or video will do all of the damage necessary and desired. Once a first impression is made and people get outraged over an AI fake, it is nearly impossible to get them to see the fraud and admit they were duped.
How many people STILL believe there are PP tapes of Trump in Moscow? Just imagine if there were blurry AI fake pictures circulated. How many people STILL believe in the Russia Russia Russia hoax? Just imagine if there were leaked surveillance videos of actual Russians plotting it.
People are gullible and stupid. What is truth?
In reality, most people don't want to know the truth, they want confirmation bias confirmed. This technology will be a political divider like never seen before.

Been saying it since the beginning. I also was duped and laughed at the misshapen hands and limbs blurring into the sidewalks. But I paid attention when that disappeared in less than a year. And quickly grew alarmed at the leaps and bounds it has grown since.
I have never seen such advancement so quickly in any field. I am not sure any human has. Even microchip tech which held that title previously. This laughs at Moore's Law. A very sizable chunk of this board continues to scoff at it and I can't help but think this is a massive mistake. I know what to look for and today's image and videos with the latest engines…I can sometimes guess correctly that they are generated. That's if I know to look in the first place.
This stuff legit scares the **** out of me. Because it forces me to question the truth of my eyes and ears.
Just think of where we will be in another two years. And we look at these examples here of entertainment but we all know it is just as applicable to be abused to bad actors and the outright crazy and those who simply want to see the world burn.
We were never going to be ready for this and I have never felt this bleak about anything ever in my life. I see absolutely no way this doesn't turn out horrendously awful in the long run. The amount of damage that WILL come from this technology will always overshadow whatever good may come from it.
Seedance made this MV ft. Kayne West. It’s so well made that it’s going viral on Chinese internet. pic.twitter.com/vUrlgIqVeX

The new ByteDance SeeDance 2.0 video model is VERY good. This is the very first output from my very first prompt: "A nature documentary about an otter flying an airplane" pic.twitter.com/f2fsDPl3y7

Quick test with Seedance 2.0, just the starting image and prompt "fast action movie scene, hand-held camera, the woman notices the pilots have disappeared and races to take control of the plane, cut to outside shot showing her inside the cockpit at the controls" pic.twitter.com/doRiX8qWqh
