GPS, I would guess

Planes fly pretty often without GPS or with scrambled GPS, I reckon whatever tech they have does more than screw up some coordinates.

all over twitter that it was Mexican drug cartel drones

of course, who gave the mexican cartels drones?

IRAN
CHINA
CUBA
Venezuela

If this is proven true, green light to invade Mexico and pave it.

They refuse to address the narco armies that border our country

Mexico doesn't have a legitimate government, and hasn't for a LONG time. Cartels completely run several states and parts of the country and the police/government are unwilling and or unable to stop them. They are powerless to stop the warring factions of cartels, and many of their politicians are in their pocket as it is. A cesspool of corruption, not unlike us but instead of major corporations it's violent drug syndicates.

This deal is odd, the "cartels" have been flying drones across the border for years, in prolly lots of locations. BP friends have shared videos withe me of agents shooting Mex drones down and have also relayed how they track them via the Aerostat and radar coverage.

There have been helicopters, small planes, and years back basically kamikazi crop dusters that would cross the border and drop dope or souls.

And some of that has been close to other comercial airports. This is just a weird deal to me, save for someone flying drones into and very close to the airport.

Just because something bad has been happening for a long time doesn't mean it's weird or odd that somebody is finally doing something about it. It is odder to me that past administrations cared nothing about the activity.

Agree with your point about previous administration's. But I don't think you are considering the pride and professionalism of a lot of the BP and Customs agents on the front lines. They might had to let a bunch of wets go due to orders, but they never quit riding herd on the dope and other stuff they oversaw.

The big surge of thousands of Haitians in Del Rio years ago was orchestrated by the CDG so as to force hundreds of agents away from the bridges and river to the south, and make them go deal with a mess, so they could push Mexicans across, who were not getting asylum, and reduce inspections.

The boots on the ground guys have, from what I saw and heard, kept up the fight to the best of their abilities.

Up through the early 70s it has been proven and acknowledged that several Mex presidents were CIA assets. The whole "cartel" fiasco of the 2010's was allowed by the US Fed government allowing the Sinaloa group almost free reign in exchange for them dropping dime and assisting in the dismantling of various other groups, like the Zetas, CDG, Familia Michoacana, and the Juarez and TJ group.

Whether they are doing right or wrong, I have no doubt that US intelligence agencies know a whole lot more than most can even imagine in regards to who is doing what and that the Mex gov is penetrated and compromised at high levels, always has been.

I do not believe that this current Mexican government, as leftist as they appear, would risk having criminal groups mess with larger drones on the US border If they are and if it has happened, this batty woman is about to step into a huge pile of sheet.

The drug business moves the weight in commercial shipments, the across the river and mojado desert mule packed stuff is small time inconsequential stuff. Now the illegal trafficking with asylum was huge, huge easy money for Mex in general and Trump has, thank God, shut that crap down.

Allowing larger drones is financial and political suicide for the Mexican politicians. Hopefully they aren't that stupid, but maybe they are.

If I were the cartels, my butt would be pretty puckered right now.

If we are watching their drones and acting the way we did for them, they know that they are being watched and monitored as well.

The time for the cartels is quickly coming to a close.

It now appears that this may have simply been a communications disconnect between the FAA and counter-drone training/ops being conducted by the Army at nearby Ft Bliss.

Yeah, who knows what the final story will be, but at least initially, a communications disconnect between the FAA and the Army conducting drone/counter-drone ops at nearby Ft Bliss sounds more credible to me than does a sudden surge of clandestine cartel drone flights into the well-monitored airspace over a major city and military base.

Update to the "Drones" article I linked just above:

"CBS News and CNN have both now reported that a breakdown in coordination between the U.S. military and the FAA over the employment of a counter-drone system armed with a laser directed energy weapon contributed to the imposition of the flight restrictions around El Paso.

"Meetings were scheduled over safety impacts, but Pentagon officials wanted to test the technology sooner," according to CBS News, citing multiple unnamed sources. "Airlines were also aware of the apparent impasse between the FAA and Pentagon officials over the issue because the Pentagon has been using Fort Bliss for anti-cartel drone operations without sharing information with the FAA."

If so, that's unprofessional to say the least.

So, is this coordination failure supposed to be a criticism now? I thought the purpose of testing things was to find out where problems can occur, and it sounds like they were successful in discovering a problem. Wasn't it Elon who said something about rockets failing and blowing up was part of being successful?

Sure, I know the optics may be funny to laugh at, but isn't this likely to result in a clearer lane of authority and process for a real live event in the future? I'm actually glad they are working on a border incursion solution. This is far less 'embarrassing' event if you want to call it that then letting Chinese spy balloons fly across the country unimpeded.
