I don't think Rubio has made any overtures whatsoever in pursuing a Presidential run, but man, fingers f'ing crossed. Rubio/DeSantis ticket would be my dream in '28 as I sit here now.

Well, he DID run in 2016, so there's that...

Ah. My flow of consciousness was meaning for another run I meant. Specifically in '28. And not just a one and done. He certainly has built up a better resume and has chance to fortify the hell out of it in the next 3 years. I think if he wants to have another go at it, he would be a very, very strong contender.

I figured you meant that.

Just ribbing you.

BTW, I was supporting Rubio in the primaries in 2016 because I thought he'd have the best chance to win.

"The Spanish conquistadors were great!" is truly a daring 2028 campaign message. Foam parties boy really has his finger on the pulse of what concerns Americans.

Lord knows the propriety of the Spanish conquistadors tops my list

I was impressed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio's speech at the Munich Security Conference. He indeed addressed a number of particular political issues, but what most grabbed my attention was his stress on the common culture that unites Europe and America. He cited Dante, Shakespeare, the Sistine Chapel, Cologne Cathedraleven the Beatles as expressions of basic cultural intuitions that still inform the West. But he pressed the matter further, insisting, in the spirit of both Christopher Dawson and Pope Benedict XVI, that that culture is grounded ultimately in the Christian faith. It is simply the case that reverence for the dignity of the individual, for human rights, for political freedom, and for equality comes, in the final analysis, from the Christian Gospel. Basic to his presentation was the conviction that Europe and America will truly flourish when each re-discovers its spiritual mooring.

You prefer the paganistic human sacrifices and enslavement of the other tribes by the natives? Bold choice but not surprising.
You know a huge part of why Cortes was able to conquer the Aztecs? Because so many of the other native tribes allied with him as result of their absolute hatred for the Aztecs. Super good folks you're white knighting for.
