Giant burning oil slicks started by us will not be a positive development. Let Iran be solely responsible for any cleanup.

Sp(oil)s of war and such.

Yeah I don't how expensive napalm is so maybe not so much a cost thing.

But point being it's a waste of resources that has no direct impact to the enemy. Doesn't hurt them in any way so why bother?

Seems to me loaded tankers floating in a burning sea of oil could create some concern. Also the loading facility in proximity could bother the enemy a little.

Sounds like it would be a good time to refresh the Iranians memory about the last time a general was caught running errands in Iraq during Trump's first term. . .

Significance if true?

Probably negotiating and giving instructions and communication channels with Iranian backed Shiite militias. They've done that before.

Probably getting out of the way before the Israelis start head hunting again. He is Mossad after all…

Shocked! Shocked!

that the same Islamic Republic that butchered 40,000 of it's own citizens a few months ago is just stalling and refusing to turn over their enriched uranium.

He must be about to give Trump a tongue lashing over his surrender proposal that was sent to the Iran. I would not want to be Trump right now, he's on big trouble!

But seriously, it's just getting into the middle of the night there so maybe something is a brewing. As many have said, Trumps delay here seems to have been more about posturing assets and opinions in our favor.

Giddy up.

IRAN NEGOTIATIONS RESPONSE

WSJ and Al Mayadeen report that Iran is demanding an end to the blockade, unrestricted oil exports, sanctions relief, the release of frozen assets, a ceasefire in Lebanon, and continued Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz.

On the nuclear issue, Tehran is offering to dilute part of its enriched uranium and transfer the remainder to a third country, with guarantees it would be returned if talks collapse.

Iran wants all negotiations routed through Pakistan and says nuclear talks would begin only after the war ends.

The main sticking point may be Lebanon, which Tehran included as part of the broader deal.

Nope. Drop the bombs. Let's see if the people next in line are more reasonable to understanding they're not making the rules.

Macron says he would send warships to secure the straight, in coordination with Iran, after the fighting stops of course. What is he going to do, collect tolls for them?

Exactly what is the warship for?

For good measure the French have surrendered and offered to collaborate.

Beyond useless.

From the WSJ

President Emmanuel Macron said France had never considered a naval deployment to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, after Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said French and British warships supporting U.S. actions would face an immediate and firm response.

"That has never been an option for France," Macron told reporters on Sunday during a visit to Kenya. He said what France proposed instead was to build a French-U.K-led international mission to ensure the resumption of maritime traffic in coordination with Iran, as soon as conditions permit. On Wednesday, France's Charles de Gaulle aircraft-carrier battle group sailed through the Suez Canal and to the Red Sea to stand ready. The U.K. said Saturday that it was sending a warship to support the international coalition's effort to secure the strait, whenever conditions allowed.

Are we actually low on ordinance? I would not think so. How could we address a major war if so?

Air defense interceptors like patriot and THAAD are a very real concern if Iran can still launch a lot of missiles and drones.

Other stuff like tomahawks and some other air launched stuff are somewhat concerning but less so.

Unless there's another option no one is talking about, that does appear to be the only remaining course of action.

For weeks Trump has been claiming the mullah - IRGC regime are desperate to do a deal. Yet he just offered them a sweetheart deal, and according to that tweet, they responded by kicking sand in his face.

Targeting Iran's civilian infrastructure and O&G infrastructure are steps we would prefer not to take. But what else is there of value and importance left to target?

Not a good development, from anyone's perspective, unless your name is Putin or Xi.

Presumably we will now strike some more bridges, plus desalination plants, power generating plants, etc. to make them reconsider or to incent uprisings by the populace or by an Iranian military junta.

It's been a month since bombing stopped. Strait still closed, no closer to a deal. Global inventory levels at the start were high but now being drained. They better figure something out.

Saddam effectively abandoned his nuke program after the Israelis bombed it.

Afghanistan had no nuke program.

Gaddafi gave up his nuke program.

Syria abandoned their nuke program after Israel bombed it.

There is a common theme to what happened in each of those countries when they lost (or never had) their only true deterrent against Western intervention.

The Iranians/IRGC know this and aren't going to willingly give up their program. They know it = the end of their regime. And they're crazy.

Back to war we go.

I've almost stopped following it as it was consuming me to keep reading thread after thread on X about different things. Actually uninstalled X from my phone because it was becoming unhealthy.

A quick update or two though. Yesterday Iran launched about 130 fast boats into the strait as a propaganda move. Centcom responded rather quickly by releasing footage of fully loaded aircraft.

and all those 130 boats could already be blown up

You actually make the opposite point to reality.

the USA demanded from Saddam Hussein in 2003 to give up his nuclear program and he refused.

it was only THEN that he was destroyed.

let's notice that Dubai never tried to build a nuclear bomb- and they are one of the wealthiest countries on the planet. same with Saudi.
