It is interesting how she arrived at her enlightenment. It is absolutely frightening how quick we surrendered to authoritarian control during COVID, but it did slap a large segment of our population back to reality.

That part stuck out to me too. I concur with her. COVID also changed me in that it was my wakeup call. In that we are not in fact, secure in our own country. I'm not even talking about a tyrannical government. I've always known that was possible. I am talking about our very society. Our neighbors next door. Our friends. Our families.

I will never forget how COVID changed not just the world, but people. To the day I die, I will never forget.

I would argue Covid revealed it, rather than changed it.

From the movie Nuremberg:
Quote:

Douglas Kelley: They are not unique people. There are people like the Nazis in every country in the world today.
Radio Show Moderator: Not in America.

Douglas Kelley: Yes, in America. Their personality patterns are not obscure. There are people who want to be in power. And while you say they don't exist here, I would say I'm quite certain there are people in America who would willingly climb over the corpses of half the American public if they knew they could gain control of the other half.

Radio Show Moderator: Doctor, please.

Douglas Kelley: They stoke hatred. It's what Hitler and Göring did, and it is textbook. And if you think the next time it happens we're going to recognize it because they're wearing scary uniforms, you're out of your damn mind.

Ben Shapiro's book Lions & Scavengers makes a similar points about what Scavengers will do for power.

I aslo believe everyone should read Victor Frankl book Man's Search for Meaning multiple times throughout their lives. I wish I would have read it in high school.

The real story has nothing to do with the climate change movement really, it's about how the left lures in someone and then makes it almost impossible for them to leave and how that is especially effective on young women who have insecurities and no strong foundational (typically male) figure to help guide them. Everything is based around appealing to emotions and attention.

Just today I've seen boomer white liberals on Facebook talking about how great Jasmine Crockett is and how we need her in the Senate.

Really? Exactly what has Crockett shown that would make a college-educated, 60-year-old suburban woman believe she is qualified for the Senate? It's so bizarre. But it underpins your point.

I bet you the majority of those boomer white liberals fit into one of these categories: retired teachers, government workers or members of unions. Most of these individuals only do stage 1 think and don't look past stage 1.

3. Not related to the topic, but I watched this at 1.5x speed with captions on... good lord we need to get the "like" tick removed forever. "I was like ...." "it was like..." "like" GUH!!

Would give a star for this alone. I hate this so much. Nails on a chalkboard.

When I catch myself using "like", or other verbal ticks, I have the same reaction as when you accidentally bite the side of your mouth or your tongue.

Thanks for sharing that.

Yep. One thing it took me a long time to understand is this isn't about a rational argument for many of these folks, it's caught up in their identity. There are rational liberals you can discuss issues with just not many. There are LOTS of folks that are just useful idiots that enjoy the feeling of moral superiority and feeling like they are the good guy to the point of complete delusion. It's all feelings and you simply can't argue with that.

The last thing she said was, "Don't trust climate models." Then she basically described garbage in equals garbage out.

Even worse than that in modeling you have to make assumptions and those assumptions have huge impact on the output. So, they are gaming their models to get the results they want.

The infamous hockey stick graph would plot a hockey stick no mater what data you plugged in.

Back in the 1970's my high school had an analog computer (switches & gears analog) that did environmental disaster modeling. No matter what you did to the input parameters, the earth would be destroyed within a decade or so. Even then the hockey stick was programmed in the doomsday computer model machines. The major doomsday narrative of the time was that overpopulation would consume earth's resources, thereby causing famine and disease. Of course, technological advances in agriculture and energy production averted the disaster, and we are still around a half century after the machine predicted that we would all be extinct.

Even if the current computer models were legitimate, there is no way to program technological advancements that address the problems.

The fact that the global warming movement specifically disregard technological innovation is a huge red flag that exposes that the entire narrative is a fraud.

That sounds like the Sim Earth game from about 30 years ago. No matter what you did your planet eventually became overheated, and all the life either died or became sentient and left.

Absolutely this. People are groomed, indoctrinated, and completely isolated from all other views / people with different ideas. Once in and isolated most never realize what has happened or that contradicting facts exist. Those that do are left with the anxiety of being abandoned by everyone they know if they dare to challenge the narrative.

You would think with all the examples we have it would be more challenging to accomplish, but hey, we are flawed humans. I still cannot wrap my head around how many people are ensnared by the massive racket that is Scientology.

We were headed for a deadly ice age .... didn't happen
We were killing the ozone layer, and once gone, it could never recover ... data showed ozone layer actually could/did rebuild reducing the size of the 'hole'
Glaciers were all melting and would essentially be gone by now ... They didn't and we have seen growth/increases in some areas

The hubris / arrogance of mankind is not that we think we can do whatever we want, damn the consequences. It is that we think we have any say as to when God ,or if you are secular, the universe will determine when man's time on Earth has come to an end.

... and yes, I know we need to be good stewards of the planet, and her resources, to keep a higher quality of life for as long as we are allowed to be here.

Very true. When you look at leftist activists as if they are religious zealots that consider any contrary view to be blasphemy it makes a lot more sense. Climate change is just cause du jour and is easily replaced with other causes.

It also makes that point that part of the reason that communism has atheism as a main tenet is to make the state into their god and to replace the dogma with their own. BTW, few things will piss off an "enlightened" atheist or leftist than pointing this out and then watching them try to dispute it which of course only proves the point further in the end. To show them to be simpletons who are being used and manipulated is their worst nightmare and destroys their sense of self worth so they will fight it to the end. They must feel morally superior because otherwise they would have to reflect on their own actions and how they treat others.

She basically told us what many have known to be true for decades because we thought beyond the msm drivel, social media virtue signaling, and leftist political rants. Still it's good to see some breaking of ranks.

This. Add in the impact that this goes far beyond just admitting you were wrong and means you are likely having to give up your friends and for the hard core activists like this one her lifestyle to admit you were a fool makes it even harder. They intentionally target "useful idiots" for a reason.

I have a lot of respect for her because you are so correct on the cost for her not just changing her mind but speaking about it.

Here is one of her first articles doing that:
