Spent two weeks in France during the holidays. The food all over France was preservative free. We even took the grands to McDonald's where they proclaimed that it tasted much better there than back here. The French fries in Europe only contain potatoes, salt and dextrose.

Their culture encourages fresh shopping every day or two because their kitchens are tiny. Tiny fridges, tiny ovens (if they even have one at all) and zero storage such as a pantry. People just don't eat at home that much in urban areas.

By contrast, go to smallish town in Italy and it won't support many restaurants, if any, because everyone cooks at home for family and friends. Larger better equipped kitchens.

Ok man. I just think its funny that we have gone from "RFK is an idiot and all his ideas are stupid" to "oh my God corruption" when he changes his mind.

To be fair, most of the people on this thread authentically wanted RFK to be successful. You just weren't one of them.

I don't think he changed his mind unless he is 100% grifting. I think he believes a lot of the non-scientific nonsense he has publicly espoused. Grant you, he may be 100% grifting.

I think he has been forced to abandon many of the legs of his MAHA stool because of Trump. And Trump's reason is cash-money.

Places such as the UK have banned all sorts of additives, including food dyes and their food mostly sucks. Lacks flavor, lacks texture. Their lack of cooking techniques (boil most things) does not help. Even their fast food is mostly reheated from frozen. Freezing is how they stabilize food storage instead of preservatives.

The got their gummy bears correct though. Ours are neon colors and suck flavor wise vs their dull shades but actually taste decent, especially the sour ones.

Same.

I saved big money at Menard's (an awesome hardware store that also has a food section, I **** you not), in Iowa, one day on some of those.

Here's what a proper use scenario would be:

Patient: "Hey, Doc, I haven't crapped in days. I'm all backed up."

Doctor, holding out a bag of S/F gummi bears: "Eat the whole bag and call me in the morning."

Patient....not stopped up anymore.

The End.

To reply to the actual topic, my sister in law stopped giving her daughter anything with red dye and it drastically improved her behavior. Anytime she ate red dye she started acting up etc… so this is something that should 100% be looked at. Would be much better to make kids naturally healthier than to diagnose and medicate them.

This seemed to be a big deal to RFK and the MAHA movement. I wonder what's behind this.

What's behind it is that this is a typically ridiculous idea from what passes for a brain for RFK Jr., meaning it was a dumb solution in desperate search of a problem.

Speaking of limited palette, legendary sportscaster Al Michaels, who's 81 and looks to be in pretty good health, has famously claimed he has never knowingly eaten a vegetable in his entire life, a habit stemming from childhood pickiness. He maintains that a diet free of produce, focusing instead on items like steak, has not impacted his health or longevity.

We need doctors to stop telling people that it doesn't matter what they eat.
We need to be free to choose a proper diet without the healthcare industry telling us we should eat garbage instead.
If people want to eat garbage, they should be able to do that, but I don't want to pay for their meds.

I haven't done much traveling to Europe, but visited Italy a couple years ago, and the food there was pretty good.

I felt much less ****ty after eating there than I do here.

Italian and Greek food use more spices and more varied cooking techniques and is much better than UK food.

Salt and pepper is spicy to them. Nor do they like sugar very much, irrespective of source, refined or raw. Putting a can of Heinz beans on top of toast is about as adventurous food wise that they get. Very few friend foods if any. Meat proteins are very limited to chicken, beef, pork, occasionally lamb or mutton. The only seafood they get is cod or haddock in fish and chips. (One of the few things fried.)

They also have an obsession with diabetes from eating anything sweet or clogged arteries from meat and fried foods. Nor do they eat a lot fruits nor vegetables other than plain baked potatoes with maybe some margarine on them but never loaded with bacon, cheese or sour cream.

To say Brits have a very limited palate is an understatement.

what sort of experience do you have with the food in the UK?

I always believed that was the case until actually living here. I don't find bland food often at all. way more home cooked food available here than in the US, where our default is stuff sourced from Sysco. eels and liquor are not widespread grub. do they have weird food combos? sure... tuna on a baked potato ain't my thing. but bland is an outdated view in my opinion

All i know is when traveling through Germany and surrounding countries the food actually looks exactly like the pictures and tasted great as compared to what you get here in America (when is the last time you got a burger that looked like the menu?). I highly recommend you try the local Colabier if you are ever around the Bavarian region. Its so damn good along with the schnitzel all over Germany.

Yep. Unfortunately a trend we see for too often. Sensational headline or article that is taken as gospel. You'd think after the last 10 years and how dishonest corporate media has been people would be more skeptical and/or wait for more details. Staff should edit the OP and title.
