OK. But no industry is booming right now. So I don't believe Trump (yet) but I still trust him that he is working on it.

Construction and engineering in Texas is still in heavy growth and those in those fields can readily find employment in Texas. New graduate civil engineers still have day 1 employment opportunities at good salaries in this state.

OK, that is good to hear! Was it the same in 2023 or is this new improvement? This may be because of limited potential to bring in H1Bs or offshore.

The software industry is still hurting bad. It is sad to see 40+ Americans posting on Linkedin that they are giving up as they can take it no longer after applying and getting ghosted. My soon to graduate son just got a job offer that he accepted in the Bay Area but he had to struggle a LOT to get one measly offer (it is a very famous name) even though he is getting a Computer Sc degree from a Top 5 school. Earlier kids used to get multiple offers, everything's dried up. And no, these American kids are NOT lazy or entitled.
So in the industries that I follow, things are still very bad.

It's so over for them in the midterms

Red tsunami incoming

Cheating.

That Virginia Governor ran as a moderate and then flipped immediately. She is now in charge of voting in Virginia. Guess what that means?

They create votes after polls close when they know the count and how many votes are needed in the major cities, where there are a lot of people that don't show up to vote. They have perfected this, and will keep polls closed for days if needed.

Until this is fixed, the libs can keep giving the middle finger to the entire US population and won't lose an election.

They can tell folks directly that they care more about illegals than US citizens.
They can tell the US Hockey team that they are garbage because they are proud of their country.
They can force your daughters to go into restrooms with men.

Sure, most people will vote against that ***** But, with cheating, it doesn't matter.

The entire premise that it was some sort of major windfall that a democrat was elected governor in VA is hysterical. The windfall was Youngkin getting elected in a long time democrat stronghold like Virginia. Same thing goes for that idiot that won in New Jersey. Democrats act like they had some kind of a major flip in normally long time blue states. Everyone with any sense knew who Spamberger was and what she stood for regardless of what she said on the campaign trail. She was a CIA spook she's been trained to lie and deceive. And now the idiots up here act all surprised when she immediately did the opposite of what she promised. Good riddance you liberal idiots, your anyone but Trump plan is costing you millions

Well obviously they are all largely booming. That's kind of the definition of unemployment down @4.3%.The IT sector unemployment is @5% like it has largely been since post Wuhan Flu. You keep repeating this and it's simply not true. You need a good Edna Maude moment.

Agriculture, Construction, Leisure and hospitality have relatively high unemployment. Traditional white collar sectors are all below 5%. Again, I would encourage any young man having trouble breaking thru the AI Resume' filters to go talk to their recruiter. There are a ton of careers in tech in all branches. My favorite for hi IQ grads is the Navy nuke program. You'll need to study to pass the interviews...but it is Hi salary and as hi tech as you can get; and you learn leadership in the process.

Or, you can just piss and moan and let the doers pass you buy.

This is the least competent, least qualified administration of all time. It's shocking to me that so many Ags fell for this bull****, but at least there's still time to wake up before midterms.

Wrong. The job market is terrible right now for new entrants and experienced Americans. This is especially true in tech. I have been in the industry for over 25 years and it hasn't ever been this bad, including 2008 and 2001.

I am amazed that people just blindly believe government numbers. Or maybe what we call "jobs" these days are HVAC, plumber and electrician jobs as recommended by the old geezers on this group, while foreigners have cornered all the intellectual jobs by undercutting or nepotism.

Tech will suffer from AI and much of tech can be done from anywhere. Companies seeking lower costs (as in almost all of them) will take advantage of that. You would do the same if you were running a large company.

"...HVAC, plumber and electrician jobs..." actually are jobs, pay very well, cannot be done by AI and cannot be done from anywhere.

Don't be so bitter and butthurt because your chosen profession is getting hit, you made the choice. Young folks should be paying attention to what can jump up and bite them career-wise. Some may hate on CEOs and not want to get their hands dirty, others will choose a different path. Individual choices.

Now the Democrat gaslighting will really go into overdrive. We're about to be told we didn't hear what we clearly heard, Trump lies, and Republicans are a menace to democracy.

To the contrary, it was a fantastic SOTU. Possibly the best in my lifetime. Trump hit every target with deadly aim, and was able to rise above the noise and speak directly to Americans as to the truth.

As well it should, it has the Democrats quaking in their booties this morning.

One of the issues we have in the country is the thought of just getting a college degree while devaluing trades. What that led to was parents sending their kids to college with degree plans that did not lead to well paying jobs while amassing debt. Instead of sending kids to college for limited use degrees, if they would have focused on trades, they would be so far ahead with no debt.

I am not convinced about his statements on jobs. The job market is still awful and H1B scams are happening unabated. I don't buy that part of it. It is easier for an Indian in tech to get a job in America than for an American. I know things are happening behind the scenes so that is good. I would like the speed to increase and loopholes be plugged.

Fake news.

UE is at full employment. U6 is trending down. Labor force participation rate for 25-54 year olds is at the highest level since the year 2001, 25 years ago!

Yeah, those "jobs" are actual jobs and pay very very well if you're not a complete moron.

I did everything as society would want someone to do...Top 10 in HS, good college, worked way up in corporate America. My brother is an electrician. He's a HS dropout who got his GED around age 30. He lives in a gated estate community in Willis in a very nice house and makes a lot more than I do. He also has freedom of his schedule. He wants to go on a cruise for a week, he doesn't have to put in PTO or try to manage whatever balance he has. His neighbor who lives in the mansion across the street owns a HVAC company.

My step-brother owns a HVAC company, and if you're in Houston, you've do doubt seen one of his trucks driving around. Like my brother, he dropped out of HS and ran with a rough crowd and even spent a few nights in jail. He finally cleaned himself up in his late-20s and got into HVAC, and he opened up his own thing about 5 or 6 years ago after a decade learning the business. Dude rakes in cash now. He went from living a comfortable life to having enough to not have to work another day in his life in a few years.

The neighborhood we lived in before our current one was a pretty nice area...full brick homes in a golf course community. There were a couple of different areas in that neighborhood that I jokingly referred to as "the other side," which were 5,000+ sq/ft custom homes. I used to run a lot, and one of my routes took me through one of those areas, and I'd be confident in saying at least 10% of those houses had work vans parked out front each night.

For cultural Marxists, supporting Americans = white supremacy.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

The hashtag rotates, the outrage gets recycled, but it's always the same sanctimonious clowns, the same hysterical tantrums, the same useless street theater. New flavor of moral superiority every couple years, same cast of perpetual protesters, same zero actual results.

It's not activism. It's a lazy, NGO taxpayer and whatever foundation funded lifestyle subscription for spoiled narcissists who want the cheap dopamine hit of feeling holier than thou without ever having to build a damn thing, solve a real problem, take responsibility, lead anyone, or produce one measurable win in the real world. They gaslight and throw fits, to impress their sheep, and appease the corporate media who constantly runs cover for them and gives them a platform to cry on.

Trump put them all on notice front and center we're tired of it and hopefully it sticks with the weaker parts of the red team.

My older brother was the same, really good money and steady work. He ended up teaching in the Journeyman and Apprentice programs so he even got out of the field. Retired a few years ago very comfortably. My sister went to a tech school in Tulsa for NDE on airplanes, made really great money that eventually pulled her out of some early holes she caused herself. Same thing, retired at 64 with a paid for house and no debt. As a woman in that business, she never took crap and ended up running several crews for years.

AI is not hitting tech, at least not yet. It is a lie, a big lie. No one trusts AI to replace anything that is critical. Yes, maybe mundane repetitive low critical tasks. CEOs quote AI because it is believable and helps cover up their own management mistakes. I don't know what happens tomorrow but up until now that is the case. Companies just say "we laid off because of AI" but do not give any more details. Clever, and naive folk lap it up.

I did not make the choice for companies to offshore everything. Companies did and it hurts tech talent in the US and sends our IP abroad. Yes, they bring in H1Bs AND offshore the rest so it's a double whammy and killing the tech talent in this country. Just like they killed manufacturing. When they kill HVAC and plumber jobs by bring in people from Mexico, you will be posting about that as it hits your chosen profession.
